How are the standard wheels holding up, do the tyres have sufficient depth of sidewall to offer some degree of protection against damage, as they look difficult to repair?

I am looking at one of these on a lease but as soon as you up the mileage the lease payments are going up by over £150pm. I only need 15k a year.

Does anyone know whether the VW dealers are doing decent leases like they were competing on the Golf R deals last year and can anyone recommend someone to give me a decent price.

As its a lease these seem well specced if I go for the R Line 262 and would likely take it standard with metallic as nothing else looks necessary?

Thanks in advance.

I've clonked mine a couple of times, got out fearing the worst and have been lucky every time (so far), not a scratch. cool

Ditto, still unmarked. The tyres are 275/45/20, still have a pretty high side wall.
I recently had a screw in the centre of one of mine 😟. Prepared for the worse and check prices which were nudging 250 a corner but luckily it was repairable 😃 best bit was the garage said no charge as I'd recently had a full set of AD08's fitted to my Cerbera by them.....

Hi S5V8,

I got mine on a lease, 8kpa, but as based in N Ireland I ended up going for a local dealer however I got a great deal from Lancaster Volkswagen and the guy I dealt with David was very good; details below.

Not sure where you are based but certainly worth contacting him. With hindsight, had I stayed with his offer I would now be driving my name new R line whereas I am still waiting delivery.

Hope you get a deal that suits you.

I got mine through somebody I know and he sourced it from Lancaster as well.

From memory mine was £360 a month +vat with 8k, but I know afterwards I saw a few deals for £320ish with the same spec and mileage.

4000 miles in & not a mark on mine either despite rural Hampshire's roads. The tyres aren't not too low profile (compared to my previous car, a 3 series) which seems to help.

I have of course doomed it now & will scuff all 4 tomorrow :-)

For those of you who did not get caught up in the delay following the fire at a suppliers factory, can you recall how long it took to get from "With the factory" to a build date being allocated?

I've been quoted a shade under £11k all in for a two year lease on a 262 R line with 5000 miles per annum, including metallic paint and vat. Seems pretty competitive but has anyone seen better?

Hi Lofty,

Mine works out approx £11.5k over two years, 8000pa including maintenance and tyres so think a good deal.

Hi Keith

Mine stayed at 'with the factory' from mid June till 29th September, then given a build date of 19th October.

Fingers crossed all goes to plan as waited long enough!!

Thank you Anil12, not long to go now for you. I am hoping your long wait was due to the supply problem of certain part(s) which I understand has now been resolved.

Hi Keith.

I have never been given an explanation other than the demand has been so great for the R Line.

Have you not got a build week yet?

They have provided me a courtesy car now, a CC, until, mine arrives.

Hi Anil, no build week yet' but from reading the info on the website, you get a build date approx 4 weeks before the actual build and after its built it takes a further 4 weeks to reach the dealer.

A quick question, I received several mobile phone cables with my car but none of them appear to work with my Samsung Galaxy mobiles.

Is this the case for everyone or just me?

Yep, mine came with a couple of apple ones & a 3.5mm jack. However I use BT streaming for music & have an Anker high power USB charger in the armrest to power the phone. You can get microusb cables (same as the Audi ones I believe) for not much money but I've not bothered - the BT streaming works well & the Anker I've got has 5 USB outlets on it which is useful for other people charging phones in the car as well.
