Off topic slightly, but I've just seen a trailer for a program on C4 on Sunday at 8pm (For the Love of Cars). Looks pretty good, and they've clearly targeted the gap at that timeslot!
On the History channel they actively state so you want to watch a real car show on TV without punches it's here 8pm Sunday's

The Telegraph are reporting that Sue Perkins has received threatening Tweets on Twitter.

WTF? Why be mean to Sue Perkins?

1) She's lovely.
2) She's lovely.

Don't get it at all...

Nor me, disgraceful behaviour. Apparently she's quit tweeting while it settles down.

Women standups on TV aren't very good other than maybe one or two but on the comedy circuit the representation is really high (30-50% most gigs I go to) and the standard of the women is generally slightly higher than the men.
Beer glasses.
I don't drink. There are plenty of very, very funny women out there but for some reason very few seem to make it onto TV. I also think women tend to fare worse on panel shows for some reason. I think Katherine Ryan is a good example of that, seems to struggle on shows but is fantastic at standup.

Well, it wasn't me! I might consider self-immolation if she did get the lead role on any new Top Gear, but wishing she would burn to death for being nominated is a bit much... to say the least.

don't know where to put this, but I am going to say that I think Chris Moyles will be a new main presenter for TG.

He'll do all the link pieces, interviews, Dom (off of the r1 breakfast news) will do the news then a couple of car people like jodie kidd, guy martin ( ok bikes ) and travis pastrana will do the road movies, car tests etc.

all IMHO - you heard it here first hehe

I had a look through Twitter, and apparently Sue Perkins was presenting something called Thronecast, and some people thought she was poor compared with the previous presenter. It didn't seem to be anything to do with Top Gear though, and I certainly couldn't find a death threat. Why don't they take a screenshot or something of said tweets?

She was fking awful. The original guy was on but had to share co-presenter rights. It didn't help that the format was changed and Dermot ttface was also there.
Perkins is just not right for Thronecast.

Which basically says that she can learn a funny script but is not very witty on her feet.

I have never seen this woman work, but can see a truly funny person rather than someone that learns funny material and presents it.

James May has invited those who have threatened Sue Perkins on Twitter to do the world a favour and kill themselves.

He did then clarify that he didn't actually want them to die but that he, Clarkson and Hammond do not want such people as fans.

you may be right but I can't stand chris moyles and wouldn't watch a programme he presents

he's far too full of himself for someone with such little ability

Chris Moyles will never present Top Gear. I highly doubt he has even been considered. Why? Nothing he has ever done on TV has been successful. Why would the BBC want to put him on their biggest program? He also hasn't worked for the BBC for years and I doubt has much to do with them these days.

I was also a listener and "fan" of his radio show. I don't recall him ever once mentioning having any sort of interest in cars.
