How to legally get paid from a short contract role?
Discussion
Hello all,
I've been asked to go back to a contract role on odd days at an agreed daily rate. The last time I worked for this company I was full time and went through an Umbrella company, but I wasn't happy with their service. I am not registered as a LTD company either.
Is there a way I can legally receive funds for contract work, without being registered as a company or going through an umbrella?
I'm currently also in full time work elsewhere, if that makes a difference.
Cheers,
Dan

1. Use another Umbrella
2. Set up a Limited
3. Use a mate's Ltd and get him to pay you PAYE
4. Become a sole trader
4 depends if the client will allow it. You'll also expose yourself to a risk the client sues if you muck up. What about your professional indemnity?

What does your full time contract say about taking other employment?
Not sure if I'm honest, my manager and colleagues were well aware at the time and nothing was raised. Vee said:
Give the company your bank details and mock up an invoice in your personal name.
Their payroll should easily be able to deal with that. It doesn;t have to be a Ltd company.
Next January, fill out a tax return and pay any extra tax that is due.
This is how I've done it in the past.
Just to say I did this, and it worked. I had the money within a week that I'd be wanting for months. Cheers!Their payroll should easily be able to deal with that. It doesn;t have to be a Ltd company.
