immobiliser question for Mini

Hi, all.
I have a question regarding an immobilizer (I recently purchased 98 rover mini).
My dashboard light flashes fast for a while right after pressing the "unlock" button of my FOB and goes back to "armed" state.
I have to try several times in order to "disarm" the immobiliser.
Does anybody know what is going on? Do I have to send immobiliser for a repair?

Are you sure you're pressing the right button? The rapid flashing does mean the imobilizer is arming. Pressing the unlock button 4 times re-sets the alarm (do this if you disconnect the battery any time). If you are pressing the right button, there is a problem somewhere, probably with the fob. Do you have a spare you could try, the car should come with two?

Hi.
Yes, I am pressing the right button and it has been working just fine…
SInce previous owner lost the spare key/fob, I cannot test to find out the source of the problem.
But great to know that the fast flashing means "resetting" the immobiliser, thank you.
I will send the fob for the repair and order the spare.
