I've got an early P2 V70 D5. Is there any other way of finding out if I've got the 286mm or 305 mm front discs without taking them off and measuring them?

If it's really early it'll 99% have the smaller disks.

Try www.partsforvolvosonline.com and type in your reg, or call them. They're pretty helpful.

I think it is only the r design that have the larger discs. Seems that way on the phase 3.

I looked in to this for my 2004 S60 D5. I had the 286mm discs. The rear disks are very close in size: the trick another poster gave was to stand back and visually judge the front and rear disks in situ. If they look to be the same size (or - nearly the same!) then you had the 286mm fronts.

Cheers!

Ah, that would explain. Had to replace mine and had the same issue. Ended up with a wheel off & a tape measure.

At 336 you are just showing off.

If you have 16" wheels the chances are it's 286mm , ask me how I know go on ask me .
305's need 17" wheels in most cases .

There are no hard and fast rules, the only way to get an accurate answer is to pop the wheel off and measure.

I have a S60 D5 in 'S' spec, this would have been the first batch of D5s to be sold in the UK. It's a Sept 2001 on a 51 plate. Running 16" wheels and it has 305mm discs. I'd be surprised if someone upgraded so probably like this from the factory.
