Help with Mk3 buying decision please

Very nice, I was thinking about getting a Mk3 as a weekend toy as they seem great value for money. Went to the local dealer and sat in hard top version and I was a bit disappointed with the seating. I am 6'2" and found my head touching the hard top with the seat fully down and with the steering adjusted fully up it felt it was still too low and sitting on my lap. I'll have a look at another before I discount it but I was really wanting to like it but just can't get on with sitting on it rather than in it.

Maybe the hardtop is more of a problem. I've not tried one but my soft top Mk3 is fine for headroom and I'm 6 ft 2.
