My c class cdi 200 diesel auto, year 2005, from pulling away sometimes stutters, like tiny buny hoping feeling like its misfiring when trying to accelerate and i have been told its the torque adjuster .Is this the case what it is? and if so how do i sort it? as its been gong on for sometime and is uncomfortable when trying to pull away with the blip or stutter until i have gone up the gears. It does it more after it has warmed up i think.
Can any one give me some idea on what to do or what it would cost to correct the issue

Sounds like a failing lock up clutch in the torque converter. I had the same in my 320 CDI, caused by low gearbox fluid due to a leak where the wiring loom goes into the gearbox.

Unfortunately it's a new torque converter, plus cost of fixing the leak in the first place.

100k oil change is a long time. Did you own the car from new? If not, it might have low or burnt fluids in the past which would have weakened / created extra wear on the clutch pack or the lock up clutch in the torque converter. I would take it to a specialist to diagnose it.

My torque converter was changed at 120k due to the oil leak which was picked up too late, leading to the lock up clutch failure. The part was just under £900 + VAT. The labour was 5 hours as the prop shaft, gearbox has to come out, dropping part of the subframe, etc. Labour depends on specialist which mine was £55 per hour + VAT. The gearbox mount and the props haft coupling were worn so I got those change too. It make sense to change the fluid and filter again if it is indeed the lock up clutch has failed because you don't want the bits of the friction material being pumped around the auto box either. New gearbox fluids were not cheap.

If I recall correctly, I think the total was c. £1,600 inc. VAT back in 2009.

Thanks mate for the good news, i had the car from new and always kept up with services when they came about.I put it down to crappy mechanics and garages in my area and probably should have stuck with mercedes for servicing.Just can not get a decent mechanic in the area who does jobs properly.
