I`m doing Bedford next Monday with a load from ClubGTi. Should be a fair few VW`s there, but looking at the attendee list, there are plenty of others there too.

It`ll be on the `revised` GT layout, apologies for the really bad `Ms Paint` showing the changes.. laugh

This incar from PH`er Hepsta shows the new section.

Anyone else planning on going ?

Ill be there, red series 1 elise.

Thanks for posting the changes. I had heard there was resurfacing, but wasn't aware of these. Not sure I like them, I'll guess I'll have to drive it first to find out, but it really slows down that fun fast section.

Are you in that famous turbo mk2 from the 'ring atom vid?

Excellent, see you there smile

I`d heard about the resurfacing too, but I wasn`t sure what they`d done either. Bit of a shame, that flat in 5th left before the hard braking then right over the kerbs was a bit tricky, but that`s probably why it`s gone. I don`t know why they didn`t keep the old `west chicane` though ?

Perhaps it`s to reduce VMax down the back straight and noise ?

Yeah, I`ll be in the Golf biggrin

Have some almost knackered, but too good to throw brake pads and tyres, so I`ll be using those up and fitting replacements on the day. I know, I`m tight, but they are too good to bin but don`t have a full day left in them laugh

Ye, I liked the challenge of that braking zone, a lot of speed to shed plus trying to get the line right in to that hair pin. Shame, but it'll make the track a bit easier on the brakes...

See you there, I'm hoping for dry weather as I'm itching to try some proper trackday tyres on the car, as I haven't tried them since getting the car.

We're taking the Scooby, it's only our second trackday, we did the pistonheads Goodwood trackday a couple of months ago and loved it. first time at bedford it looks like a good circuit, should be a good day.

I'm thinking of bringing my Vortx along to this one but it's very weather dependent. I'm estimating 1 hour spent fixing it for every 5 minutes spent on tracklaugh

I wouldn't mind if they came up with a new chicane or something halfway along the massive main straight. I find it unnecessarily long and slightly tedious in a car although it's over a bit quicker on a bike.

What a great day that turned out to be!

Even though I did get kicked off after my second session for missing noise warnings and being blacked flagged as a result!

Still, everyone was very friendly so there were enough people to chat to and enough cars to look at to make it a great day.

Sorry to anyone I spoke to that I didnt say bye to. I decided at the drop of a hat to leave at 3:30 that very second as I realised I could make the most of my day off and, just with minutes to spare, get my car to the lotus place that look after it to look at quietening the exhaust down in prep for next time.

Here's a little vid I got from my best lap. It was the first time I had tracked the car with track tyres and also the first time in the dry. Going out in an s2 exige I realised I can brake at least 50m later on just about all corners. Something to remember for next time...

It was a fantastic day wasn`t it ! driving

Good to chat Rob. Looking at that video, it looks like we could have had some decent laps together.

I had brake pad issues, I knew they had less than half the friction material let, but they really heated up because of it. I did a cooldown lap before coming into the pits !.... Currently looking into some long overdue 4-pots.

A lap from the afternoon in the Golf.

Good effort with the brakes. At least you know youre doing it properly!

Ye, it looks like we could have had a fun scrap. Bedford and Snetterton are my regulars, so hopefully bump into you again at some point.

How did people find the new section? It looks like I would much prefer the previous layout of that south-west corner. Chicanes are annoying. hehe

I guess trying to trail brake into that long left could be a fun challenge.

I was ready to hate it but actually really liked it.

The old long left was taken flat out, the challenge came when you had to brake and get the car setup for the haipin at the end.

Same here.

The old left was flat, but the braking was tricky. The new chicane is a bit more of a challenge, trail braking into the left hander then careful not to get on the throttle too early and run wide on the exit, it rewards patience. The hairpin is now a more traditional style, rather than the old one that seemed to go on for ages.

I like it.
