Got to say i am looking forward to the new Prodigy album. Been sampling a few tracks pre released and loving the Wild Frontier - initially loved Nasty, Nasty but the Tim Burton type video has now got me hooked on this track instead.
I really got into them from Firestarter and loving bands from Gary Numan to Black Sabbath they make sense of the link between electronic and rock music. Anyway, the album is pre ordered for the 30th. Anyone else waiting for it?

if you want proper prodigy you need to go back to 1992 and "Experience".

anything after that was when they lost their roots and went more for the masses.

Well if they lost their roots then they found their way. I like their stuff better from Fat Of The Land. I mean, whilst i don't mind the earlier stuff when they got heavier i really tuned in. For the masses, really?

I guess every band gets this arguement. I could spout on all day about how great Tubeway Army were but that was then and Numan evolved into something bigger and better (then poor in the middle) then bigger and better again.

Anyway, who gives a stuff, roll on the 30th smile

i always liked the more industrial ravey sound of the early stuff - back when parties lasted a whole weekend in a field in the middle of nowhere. dance music was dance music back then. smile

Were they all originally Essex based, and into their motors?
They do some really cracking tunes, my daughter bought me the, "THEIR LAW" album a few years back. Always kept it in the truck with me as it was a good one for keeping you awake on those long overnight drives in Europe. Along with the Foos, a tour i've never done, but would still love too smile and that video for, "Smack My bh up" genius.
Heard they are cracking live.

Really do love the prodigy, their stuff has been pretty consistent over the years and representative of the sound of that generation. I remember being 13, listening to Experience for the first time hearing 'the hordes of Jericho' and was amazed.

meh.

they were good in their day, which ended just aftef they put their best album out (the fat of the land) and released that instrumental bullst.

Last albums have been generic repetitions of old material they pioneered.

Last couple of albums have been pretty disappointing, verging between forgettable and just annoying.
Have little hope for this one. But nothing, ever, by anyone, will ever carry the energy of experience / jilted gen/ fat of the land. So little wonder new stuff seems poor. That and the fact that we're all older now..

Anyway. I'll still be at ally pally in may. And i wont even be the oldest one there..

They found their calling card when they discovered the festival circuit and its pretty much paint by numbers production: shouty vocals and massive breakbeats - I'm a sucker for breakbeats and samples.

I know rave was of its time I would be interested in hearing Liam going back to proper 4/4 sound or sampling some more Chicago house vocals.

The only tune I liked from the last album was Warriors Dance - it gives me a nice warm feeling, being 12 and hearing Charley.

New album sounds like the previous album. I'll be giving it a miss.

Lmao, wtf does this BS even mean. Peoples music taste change...

Look at Rob Swire, his music tastes have changed thus it's obvious the music he will make will change. Same applies to Liam.

Liking Destroy, Wild Frontier, Rok Weiler and Rythm Bomb.

Just listened to the album.

It may well be a grower (but that could be said about all sorts of carp), but it sounds like a collection of random songs to me, rather than an 'album'. There's maybe 4-5 stand out tracks, but that's it. I'm sure I'll play it again, but the title track, Rok Weiler and Wild Frontier are those that I think of replaying. Maybe a couple of others.

I think it doesn't sound like an album because it's spread over such a large time. I heard rockweiler about 2 -3 years ago and could have sworn I've heard destroy slipped in somewhere live a year ago.

That doesn't necessarily make any difference to how an album should/could sound. It's their choice, obviously. I tend to prefer albums that flow and are cohesive.
