Looks like there is a good chance some Brits are caught up in this. Very sad but almost inevitable that it would happen.

You'd have to be certifiable to head on holiday to North Africa these days. Hope it turns out ok for the remainder caught up in it.

I agree. Not worth the risk IMO.

At least 8 people have died. The only consolation is that the siege didn't last long and all hostages are now free.

Very sad. Lovely place Tunisia and lovely, lovely people. Certainly one of the more "liberal" Muslim states. Their constitution protects freedom of thoughts and religious beliefs (although the president must be Muslim). They even tried banning the hijab before the revolution.

I had hoped to return some time soon again, came close to booking a trip for the end of the Summer frown

19 reported dead now...

"19 people were killed, including 17 tourists from Italy, Germany, Poland and Spain"

Fecking hell, just had a Facebook message from my Mum, -she visited that museum yesterday.

Staying close to the hotel from now on unsurprisingly.

That's scary, glad she's okay.

Horrific and cowardly attack. Surprised the thread is so short though.

>checks news<

Aha, nobody has confirmed they're Muzzies yet.

30 years ago i went on holiday in Tunisia. the week I left islamists planted a bomb in the bar/nightclub area of the hotel because they were selling alcohol.

IIRC 1 German died and one British man lost a leg.

how out of touch would you have to be to go there now

Personally I would be on a plane out of there. Really glad she is ok though.

Lack of shock these days? To de-sanitised to events like this maybe?

Nice country to visit as a tourist, been there twice. The locals are friendly and now going to suffer from people cancelling due to the extremists. So sad for them.

If you are going to Tunisia this year then please do. Show support. Same to be honest people going to Egypt, same happens there, but it is unlikely.

The extremists will wither in the long run if it effects money in peoples pockets, it always has been. Shame in the meantime though.

It's a beautiful country with wonderful people. I'm sure statistically speaking, there's more chance of your plane falling out of the sky than getting blown up.

Wait, poor example... smile

Sensible move. Shame though, the south has some amazing landscapes.

Plus nothing quite like passing what seems to be Libya's entire petrochemical output, being sold at the side of the road in plastic containers for 2ppl by prepubescent children.
