My husband has made the most fantastic pizza.

The only thing I noticed was after a short while eating it there was an aftertaste to it (I can't describe what it tasted of). It was a real shame because it was a superb effort.

All I can say is I think it was coming from the base which was a home made dough.

Any ideas and if so what would you suggest we do in the future to stop it happening again.

Nope, not answering, you're making it too easy.

I bet it was made with self raising flour, or using a raising agent, a opposed to yeast activated?

Did he use organic flour? I used to occasionally buy organic bread which I thought was a bit odd, a friend who used to be a baker said it may have been the lack of flour improving agents.

I have on occasion noticed a metallic aftertaste that I blame on some types of cheese.

I'm putting my money on a special kind of cheese on that pizza.

I suspect it will be the taste of the yeast.

The best pizza doughs are made the day before with instant dried yeast and refrigerated overnight.

Tasted too yeasty and had almost a sour flavor? The texture also was very coarse with big holes?

Could have been the aftertaste of the oil he mixed in with the dough. I've had a strange aftertaste once or twice when using really rich extra virgin olive oil.

Was it a premade tomato sauce or one you made yourself?

Fennel is often the culprit in premade sauces or tinned toms which are a bit iffy. Could be tomato paste not cooked out.
