Clicky engine noise from Honda 05 plate CRV

My brother just took his Honda CRV in for fix noise and MOT and the cheeky sods charged him for an MOT and then said it will be £1800 to fix the but not exactly whats wrong! Ok i'm hearing this 2nd hand but I believe that the car has engine chain but has anyone else had a similar problem than this or any ideas what could be the problem?

I'ts almost getting to be the same value as the car itself! The usual problem of fix or sell, grrr!
