I intend to use my 991 GT3 RS as the (almost) daily driver and the 4.0 for the special occasion. I think that will apply to most people who have the luck of owning both models and probably that will reflect on residuals as well.

The 997 GT3 RS was a last of an era whereas the 991 GT3 RS is the first of a (new) era - unless they go to turbo charging thereafter.
Agree with that.

Is the 25 Orange figure correct? Expected more than that. Going on that then I assume most were black?
Pretty sure its either 18 or 19 Orange and that most are black as you say.

I'm in France and have been looking for a mint LHD orange 997.1 RS with PCCB since the beginning of last year. Mid last year I missed out on a couple at 100k€. Recently there have been a couple of green ones in Germany, one is still with an OPC, for 335 and 339k€, which is above the bottom end of RS 4.0 prices. Now there is a 997.2 RS in Germany for 450k€ which is the top end of RS 4.0 prices. It seems like every week at the moment sellers add another 50 or 100k€ to the last highest price. Tulip mania!

Equally bizarre is the logic of green cars being, as claimed in the ads, much more expensive because of rarity. The only reason they are more rare is that less new buyers liked green!

There is currently only one 7.1GT3RS for sale on Autoscout. Is looks like the exact spec you are after:
http://ww3.autoscout24.de/classified/263518557?asrc=st

Alternatively I would sell you mine for the bargain price of €334,000 saving you a substantial amount from the OPC ones you mention biggrin For this price you will also get a 7.2RS in all but year thrown into the deal wink

Thanks for the tip but the link went nowhere. I changed the ww3 to www and got to Autoscout but not the car. I searched Autoscout but couldn't find it.

I'm not sure why the link isn't working. Basically there are 3x 7.1GT3RS's currently for sale in Germany:

2008 Orange at €135,000 on 40,000km (Has strange turbo type side intakes though and a Y-type intake).

2007 White at €190,000 on 17,000km.

2007 Green at €335,000 on 5,300km.

Really strange why there is such a price spread. It seems in the UK prices seem a little closer from one car to another. In Germany it is almost impossible to value your car. I have had 5 offers for my car in the last 6 months and it isn't even for sale. I would have no idea how much a LHD car should sell for. Good luck in trying to track one down; there doesn't seem to be the luxury of choice for the RS nowadays.

Green cars are at a premium due to rarity. It may be helped by the fact the Porsche GB Press car was green so the magazines featured it and Top Gear did a memorable test in the Alps.

Those who now own the Green 7.1 RS's are in an enviable position.

In my mind values have nowhere near peaked - I agree they will now settle and may even go backwards as economic factors change over time , but I'm convinced , that in the long run they will become more and more desirable and as such more and more expensive - outside of the 4.0 , it is the last of a generation , never to be seen again ; Manual , naturally aspirated , race bred engine , proper steering and really silly stickers - what more could a man want ?

The 991 is the start of a new journey and it will be a very exciting one at that , finishing with a hybrid version of the RS at some point way off in the future. As such , every new 911 generation is getting further and further away from the analogue 997 ; the bigger the gap , the more quant and rare it will become.

I bet 50p (this is a huge bet for me) that pristine , low milage examples will pass 1/3 of a million mark (plus inflation) in the next 20 years - promise smile

Surely that could feasibly be done with rampant inflation - ? Maybe the maths will not work out on that but still.

I think with the sudden blip in prices that have occurred a period of stability has to ensue. Other 'investments' will surely come to the fore. Perhaps when and if the government jumps onto non residents and tax evasion big money will leave the UK and create another radicalisation of prices.

All supposition of course.

My plan is to keep driving mine, see if I can put enough miles on it to half its value back to what I paid 2 years ago. If it still increases then happy days.

I do feel sorry for the people that didnt get into these before the jump. If I was Looking now at a 997.1 RS. 8 years old. 130k? Im not sure I would be buying one. Makes a Mc Mp4 12c whatsit look like a bargain.

Hi PIp - my post tried to rule out inflation - I.E 1/3 million + inflation - I guess I'm really saying that I could see them doubling in price plus any inflation over time - but then , hey what do I know I may well be wrong - will not be the first or the last time smile

I test drove the green top gear RS 4 years ago and very nearly bought it when it was 78k but didn't go for it !!

the good news is I found a 1900 mile black & orange one that i've still got , may sell when someone bids me £200k haha

I'm usually checking autoscout24.eu to keep tabs on used prices. Currently there are about 6 or 7 green mk1 RS's, all commanding just below or just over 300K EUR. Total madness.
There is one with 25k km's on the clock in Italy for 140K. If that proves to a bargain it should go soon.

I was also startled that asking prices are quite often near 4.0 prices, but speaking to a couple of afficionado's it became clear to me that a lot of people prefer the 'revvy' 3.6 engine.

Wouldn't know what I would do with mine. If I'd get 250k EUR, I think I'd feel obliged to sell somehow. Then again...what to buy for 250K that would top it?

Don't see how they will go up much more. JZM, the dealer who increases prices for fun seem to have a few cars on their books stuck for a while and the 4.0 cars don't tend to be increasing at anywhere near the rate they were a couple of years ago.

Prices in Europe are a pretty good reference point,

How about this 40k mile LHD car at £123k?
