We have lost the spare remote fob key for our 2013 c max.
I have been trying to research the cheapest way to replace it but am seeing some conflicting information.

I have read that the dealers will charge me about £150 to supply, cut and program a new key.

Does anyone know roughly how much I would pay an independant locksmith for the same service? Can they even code the keys?

thanks

You need IDS to program new keys in.

The law of lost items dictates that as soon as a replacement is sourced the original will reappear frown

Does the keys section of the handbook say anything about programming additional keys? Places like Timpsons have programmable keys but programming them may be a different matter.

£150 is a fair wedge for not very much item but I was charged over £100 in the '90s for an additional key (not Ford) so if that is the current rate it could be a lot worse!

Had a replacement key cut and proframmed at Timsons for £60, but it only had a single button (rather than the original 3), but it'll open and start the car so that'll do for a spare.
