GTV of 2001 vintage fault code reader

2001 v6 gtv, I believe it's called a phase 2? Tried torque app (paid for version ) on my phone with an ebay donglely doodah and it says ecu cannot be read.
So I'm guessing this model isn't obd2 compliant?
Is there compatible reader one can buy for less than the price of a flight to somewhere warm?

I don't suppose you'll know if there's a way of using it with an android phone via the usb? Dont own a laptop and pc is in the loft
