New R1

Anyone taken delivery yet ? If so, whats your thoughts as have found myself recently looking at these, as a replacement for the 1199 I sold last year.

Out of interest, why did you sell the 1199? I'm thinking they might be good bikes to pick up soon, as the new 1299 comes out and all these gorgeous new sports bikes get released this year...

Lessening of opportunities to ride the thing, being brutally honest. Think I had only done 3000 miles on it in the 2 years I owned it.

I had a few other things going on which I needed to concentrate on, including the buy out of my business partner which was a very time consuming matter (but needed doing), and was also in the middle of adoption process (3rd child), which is something we I/we had planned for a number of years.

With these now sorted, and work seemingly seeing an improvement in general trading, whilst I don't expect to suddenly have loads of spare time for a bike, I quite like the idea of owning one again for the times that I do have some spare time & can just go out for a ride, whether that be on the road or track.

Have a word with John (bikers nemesis) as I think Aky may well have one under Johns care. Few of my racer friends have them too, so will let you know what I hear.

I keep seeing a guy on instagram post pictures of his that he claimed to be the first UK delivery a week ago or something.

Couldn't tell you who it is or why they have it early but it's definitely UK and people commenting on it are asking how he got it early

I am pretty certain I saw one on the roads in the Hawes- North Yorkshire area yesterday.

We had a blue one overtake us somewhere near Nantwich on Saturday.Looked better than I remembered from the motorcycle show.

One bloke in a pair of jeans and hoody on an old R1. The other fella is pulling a heavily financed £15,000 new R1 wearing his sweat pants and ill fitting shoes into what is probably his Mum's house.

Looks pretty genuine to me.

I've got it. They love the new R1. That said, it's MCN so take what they say with a large pinch of salt (the cover claims that it is king of track, road and dyno, and yet when you look at the power outputs it is down on a couple of others).
