What are the opinions on the meteor grey & platinum silver R's?
I think they are both great, I've recently purchased a platinum silver Cayman R so I might be slightly bias!

Best colour, same as mine. Not a single silver one for sale either, plenty of black ones though........

Can I ask a general question on stripes? Mike's lovely car has its stripe touching the very edge of the rear wheel arch, others including mine stop short by an inch or so to pick out the curve of the arch. Was there ever consistency?

The stripe on the silver R in the pic above is standard.

Anything extending past the door is a retrofit... Probably the stripes from the spyder. Therefore they have been fitted by different people in a position of their choice, so there could some differences.

I think Hutch is talking about the front wheel arch and not the rear arch as he posted.....the silver R above has the stickers that extend all the way to the edge of the wheel arch.......they look like Spyder stickers to me as all R stickers I've seen stop before the wheel arch.....look at the side profile of this one for example;

Good spot, slightly OCD but good spot nevertheless! smile

I believe Hutch was referring to edge of the front wheel arch. As per DS240's post looks like the door stripe is common between the the spyder/cayman but different on the front and rear quarter panels.

The front wheel arch decals had been replaced by OPC from looking at my VIN history, may mention this when its in for a service.

Correct brakes, wrong stripe, think I'll live with that. smile

Apologies, I badly expressed my question - you guessed it though. Touching the trailing or rear edge of the front arch😉. Mine was missing the lower bumper stripe, so I became a spotter until I understood why. Nice brakes btw!

More stripe ocd spotting!....

I would say the silver one posted is unusual.

On the spyder, the stripe goes all the way to both wheel arches. I've not seen any which stop short. The design of the section on the door also differs to the R. On the R, the stripe is 'closed' off at the back of the door, but it is open ended on the Spyder, as it continues further.

On pretty much every R I've seen there is a gap on both sides of the front wheel arch.

The silver car has the R stickers ahead of the front wheel arch and on the door, but the little front section seems different to usual.

Yup, spot on. As per my previous post that section has been replaced by OPC afterwards incorrectly, hopefully this does not affecting the handling. smile

..... Well think of all the weight that extra inch of sticker adds!!

It looks okay though. Only complete nerds would spot it!

How easy is it to remove the plastic trims from the intake vents for the engine?

Also, I'm keen to see what my car would look like with black plastic vents over the standard silver contrast colour vents. Where would be the best place to pick some up for a trial fit to see how it looks.

Cheers

Touchin the very edge is not how they were fitted at the factory, there hould always be a gap left at every panel edge.

Has anyone been to see this one, it's been for sale for ages and has now been dropped to £40k on the website, any thoughts anyone?

lol

we only have to look at sales of cars though and PDK are slow sellers in this market.

Yes we seem to have a new breed buying comfort spec GT3 PDK cars and people wanting GT4 with chairs and PDK.
But again look at the GT3 mess and most have chairs, now unsellable even if they were 20k cheaper imo.

but in the main the owners here own manual R and Spyders, I cannot count on PCGB how many people pop in and then sell PDK cars, it's quite large.

where as the Manuals seem to be staying with their owners longer.

PDK box is touted as the best auto box (owners even say and back up buying PDK because short ratio's lol ), but imo it's still the worst because of Porsche long gearing, driving a PDK Porker is quite a dull pass time.

But driving a Auto in other cars can be quite exciting ;-)

that IS the reason it's been for sale a long time , it's an Automatic and the people who buy new and choose auto's have moved onto 981 Automatics.

cool, so other than the PDK it looks ok. I quite fancy a PDK next as i suffer with lower back pain and a dodgy left leg, so an auto might be better for me pain wise.

I'd really like a 991 GTS PDK but they are still out of my budget.

yep the 991 GTS is a great car.

how about a 981 PDK with X73 ?
you get much better PDK box being gen 2 and the x73 sus

I am not anti Auto, my next car will be an Auto, but it has to work with the car, I also have funny left knee hence the switch for every day use.

There's a couple of manuals hanging about as well. Over price them or do more than 25k in it and you are buggered no matter what gearbox you have.

PDK is awesome. If we are all driving gods extracting maximum laptimes from our supercars why would you want a gearbox that looses you half a second a lap?
