Which strap and where...?
Discussion
It's not uncommon, and each company is different.
On one hand, it's maximising profitability, and on the other, it's convenient to just buy the straps themselves, and re-use the existing deployant/buckle.
You'll also find a vast array of strap options on eBay, most of which will have the clasp already fitted, but buying the deployant separately lets you play around with choosing whichever style you prefer.

Any 22mm strap will fit.On one hand, it's maximising profitability, and on the other, it's convenient to just buy the straps themselves, and re-use the existing deployant/buckle.

I like Hirsch and Di-Modell personally. I've used www.ukwatchstrap.co.uk a lot and http://www.watchobsession.co.uk/ for Hirsch.
I've a Steinhart Ocean Black on one of Timefactors' 2 ring Rhinos (http://www.timefactors.com/rhinostraps.htm) which works well for the style of watch, I think.
