Hello,

I'm after a few ideas for a decent strap to replace the now rather battered Steinhart Ocean that's my daily watch.

I'm open to any material, I just dont profess to know as much as I should or the best places to buy from.

Thank you in advance,

Tom

Steinhart's own straps are hard to ignore, given the price.

I've had a look at those and seen a few I like, however, this may just be me being thick...

Is it normal to have to buy the buckle separately?

It's not uncommon, and each company is different.
On one hand, it's maximising profitability, and on the other, it's convenient to just buy the straps themselves, and re-use the existing deployant/buckle.

You'll also find a vast array of strap options on eBay, most of which will have the clasp already fitted, but buying the deployant separately lets you play around with choosing whichever style you prefer.

Any 22mm strap will fit.

I like Hirsch and Di-Modell personally. I've used www.ukwatchstrap.co.uk a lot and http://www.watchobsession.co.uk/ for Hirsch.

I've a Steinhart Ocean Black on one of Timefactors' 2 ring Rhinos (http://www.timefactors.com/rhinostraps.htm) which works well for the style of watch, I think.

Thank you chaps.

I like the look of the Rhino ones, I'll have a look at all the other suggestions too.

Makes great straps, and will customise to your spec, I have had the one on my sea master for 4 years... Great build? Quality for sure smile
