Hi All
I've had my JCW for a year now and have been getting itchy feet and thinking of changing... We do love the car and it suits our need of a school run car that's fun to drive and yet cheap to run.
We have a 7 seater audi family car that's actually enjoyable to drive but being a 4.2L twin turbo its quite pricy to run and we have a 2 seater weekend toy with silly performance hence we wanted something cheaper on fuel but we would still want to drive (we had a cheap mundane car and simply never drove it and always used the audi lol).

We do love the car but the issue we have with the mini is firstly the bump steer, on throttle on back roads its hard to control and you have to hang on to it for grim death... next is the performance, it doesn't feel like its got 0ver 200bhp to me.

So before I jump ship I was wondering what options there are to improve these areas of the car, is there LSD options? worth while power upgrades? geometry changes that can be made?

I can advise on an intercooler, downpipe, AEM intake and a remap as your most mods before forged internals are required and will give a healthy 280bhp.

Junk the awful standard suspension and fit some coilovers, changed mine to AP and the ride is so much better, far better bump absorbing and doesn't make it skip sideways when hitting a bump when turning, tuning wise front mount decat or sports cat and a remap would improve things a lot, as said above some good info out there.

I think the JCW still came on run-flats (in 2012 it was the only model where RFTs were standard) so you could check that and look for more compliant rubber.

thanks for the advice, now its mentioned I do recall it has run flats.. good point.

I'm amazed the JCW doesn't have an LSD, it ruins the car imo... Ive registered on the mini forum mentioned and will do some searches and ask some questions smile
