I have an anthem and have been meaning to go 1x10 for ages but the cranks have an odd size PCD
SRAM build? Mine's SLX (inc the brakes now, fab) Easily fixed, it's well suited to 1x (-500g too)
Yeah a sram build. I'm certainly a sram convert but why they had to use a stupid PCD I'll never know.

Not really a major bodge but after digging the road bike out a few weeks ago after a year off, I just couldn't stand the saddle soreness I was getting, despite wearing my padded shorts.

I now stick a Wilko jumbo car washing sponge down my pants for each ride. Works an absolute treat. Wasn't so good yesterday during 30 miles in the rain mind. Every time I sat down after a climb I was greeted with a reassuring squelch.

Actually is standing up for a climb a bodge? getmecoat

Once coated the front disc of my bike in WD40. Didn't realise untill I was riding down the Esplanade in Scarborough towards Spa Bridge (in short, a very steep hill). After this short sharp drop, the path goes round to the left, and straight on are some stairs.

About half way down I realised I couldn't slow down, let alone stop. At the top of the stairs is a lamp-post. My quick thinking plan was to reach out and grab the lamp-post. It didn't work. The bike somehow stopped at the top of the stairs, and I carried on. Backwards and head-first.

I walked away from that one, even though I wasn't wearing a helmet. Always have since, and a few years later whilst playing in the some woods on the Isle of Wight on my own came off again, rolled forward and headbutted a tree. If I'd not been wearing one that day, they may not have found me for a while.

Another one for spraying GT85 on the chain and overspray going onto the discs.

I managed to put my foot through the spokes of my front wheel once. I was doing about 15 mph at the time. That hurt! :idiot:

Refitted my forks in Haldon car park on Saturday.Set headset up and just about tightened the stem, went to play on the pump track. You can guess what happened.... arms pointing ahead as I start to carve around a berm then my wheel flips to fully turned and over the bars I go.

Right in front of a family.

First time out after fitting cleats to my to me new road bike a year or so ago...was all fine until I came to turn back and promptly and in slow motion fell over having been unable to get my feet detached from the pedals.

It must have been the only time an SUV driver actually stops to check if a cyclist is OK after a crash/fall. I was fine, the bike had a bit of a scuff and the rear brake jammed on halfway home. Haven't fallen off since though.

Left pedal bearings started to make a 'click' noise on the downstroke intermittently the day before a sportive - A 75mile cycle without servicing it and the 'click' happened every rotation after the first major hill. 65 miles of annoyance and now completely knackered bearings. Easy fix though.

I bought a TT bike and then realised I couldnt fit lights to it so I could ride it all year round. All lights are designed to fit to a cylindrical frame. My front light is on a cycle computer mount and the rear ingeniously attached to a saddle with some random clips and cable ties

Bit of a Faux Pas about 15 years ago riding Swinley (long before it became a popular venue).

Out very early on a Sunday morning in the summer, stopped to answer the call of nature - mid-flow I could hear sniggering and on close inspection there were 20 or 30 squadies in full cammo lying in the long grass the other side of the bush I was tending to! Almost shi7 myself........which would have probably made things even worse.

Been riding Swinley for 20+ years and never seen them out of their range area. I guess the camo gear must be working!

SUV driver stopped for me when my bike literally slipped over on ice.

WRT cleats, I've only fallen off once but come close a few more times.

Aged about 12 I got an old racing bike to restore. Took it all apart, sprayed the frame, carefully rebuilt it all, greased the bearings, new cables and brakes, shiney new saddle and bar tape. New tyres and tubes. Totally looked the part, first bike with toe clips and straps.

First ride out, coming down a huge decent towards a T junction with a major road, I applied the brakes hard. Both inner tubes burst, the front tyre came off the rim, tangled round the forks, and I went over the bars, sliding across the junction on my back.

Turns out that I should have replaced that old degraded tape round the inside of the rims rather than omit it. Ah well, you live and learn.

Used Gunk to de-grease my chain, re-oiled it and all was well until it started to rain, then the washed off immediately and I had to ride 20 or so miles accompanied by a chorus of mice...

Could have been worse. The bush could have turned out to be a another, particularly irate, squaddie.
