I have picked up a couple of small chips on my windscreen, each about the size of a match head. Unfortunately they are directly in front of the drivers seat right in my line of sight. They are a constant source of distraction and irritation.

I don't really want to have to claim for a new screen. Would they be repairable to such an extent as to be nearly invisible?

I had a chipped windscreen with a 3mm chip/crack replaced today, I have AA windscreen cover so only had to pay £75 excess. However I asked the same question could it be repaired/filled as my chip/crack was about 3 inches above the centre of my steering wheel eyeline in what the industry call Zone A. If your car is MOT age then that is a fail to have a problem in zone A. The AA fitters suggest screen replacement, other screen Zones are okay for screen filler but not direct vision, you may have it repaired but it may still fail the MOT.

Thanks. I contacted the screen repairers that my insurance use. They want me to take the car in to have a look, but stated that it would still be visible if filled. My excess is only £75 too but they are such small chips it seems such a waste.
