Hi folks

Just bought an A5 Audi approved used.

42,000 miles full Audi serv history etc

Comes with a years warranty etc

What should I look out for?

I'm not worried about oil as this car replaces an rx8 lol

Oops!

Would have helped eh?

It's the 2.0 tfsi 208 hp model

I've not picked it up yet so not seen exactly what's been done on the service schedule as paperwork will be in car.
It certainly appears to be in pristine condition.

What year? Oil consumption is the big issue, obviously. Audi seem to be fixing many cars free of charge at the moment, but who knows if they'll still be doing that in a years time. I'd keep a close eye on it and take it straight into a dealer if you think it's excessive.

Some reports of failed chain tensioners, but that doesn't seem to be common.

Make sure it's set for annual rather than long life servicing, too - And check that the STronic oil change has been done if required!

Dr. G will doubtless be along shortly...

I wouldn't assume that Audi are fixing the oil consumption issues FOC at the moment, last I heard Audi had stopped contributing for out of warranty vehicles.

It's a 58

The warranty is that of a new car so I'm not too worried.

58 makes that 6 years old, do Audi still offer same as new warranty on that?

I've got a 12 reg 2.0 TFSi, not had any major problems with it so far. Just had a couple of electrical gremlins, for example parking sensors on the continuous sound when there's nothing behind me (happened twice) and the car failed to start on a couple of occasions when the key is pushed in, took 2 or 3 attempts before it started.

I believe the electrical issues may be when the charge is low in the battery, don't know if this is true and I don't know how long a battery should last these days?

Other than that, it's the best car I think I've owner, it's the longest I've had a car for and I need to change it for something with four doors due to the kids but I can't bring my self to get rid of it!

In reply to earlier question - it's the Audi approved warranty which is same as new car.

I also get a years free breakdown cover and up to £750 contribution if it fails next mot

Watch out for the window mechanisms- they have a habit of failing, as the window has to drop each time the door is opened. Both mine replaced FOC a year ago by Audi - and car was well out of warranty!

Just keep a very close eye on oil consumption, but if you're coming from an RX8 I guess you are used to that smile

It's easy to check though, you check it through the MMI

Congratulations on the new purchase. I very nearly purchased one of these earlier on in the year. Lovely cars.

From my own experience Audi tend to be pretty good when it comes to their used warranties. However, their Approved Used Warranty is not the same level of cover you'd receive with a new car. Hopefully though you won't need it!

+1 for Battery. Just replaced mine on a 2008 car. It just 'died' and left me stranded on a petrol forecourt, didn't give me any signs of a failing battery like the old days smile ie sluggish starting etc.
