You'll miss the start of the race if you get a 9am train I would think.

If at all possible, travel on Friday, even Friday night is better than Saturday.
The traffic around the circuit on race day is horrid.
Get a crossing after work on Friday and arrive at the circuit mid night/early hours.
Have a few drinks and chill out Saturday morning.
You will miss any support races if you wait till Saturday and will be knackered for the race/Saturday night.
25 year on and only my opinion.

Yea I'm actually not going to the race - just happen to be going out that way on the Saturday so hoped there would be some other cars/convoys about!

I would think there would be very little Le Mans traffic. I head out on Friday and there is usually not much Le Mans traffic then. It seems the majority head out on Wednesday and Thursday.

Also with the recent focus on speeding you're less likely to see much variety on the way down. In years past you'd either be overtaken by interesting metal doing significant speed or you'd be the one overtaking.

These days everyone is doing 130kph so you tend to be stuck with the same convoy for long periods.
