I've had AWD, DSC, DBC malfunction warning on my X5. Reading various forums it seems that it could be that the battery needs replacing. This makes sense as the battery did go flat a couple of months ago when it was particularly cold and the car wasn't driven for a few days.

Can anyone confirm that the battery is likely to be the issue? And if so, any recommendations on which battery to go for?

Get the codes read, it could be 3 things;
Battery, if they come and go this might be it and if you notice other strange issues cropping up. Charge battery to full and see if they go.
Wheel speed sensor, there are 2 I think in diagonal corners, can be something stuck on one causing the issue, again will probably come and go.
DSC/ABS brake fluid pressure sensor or the whole DSC unit.

Codes will confirm, first get battery charged up and see if they go then clear codes and re-read if comes back. I'm guessing this is the same as the E46 which this is common issue on...

Thanks Adam. I'll stick the battery on my Optimate and see how it goes

They're very heavy on batteries apparently....I had a flat battery a few year ago due to a light being left on. Tried jump starting using another car. BMW rescue bloke said they're "very demanding" of batteries so if you do a lot of short journeys etc you can have issues.
