VXR8 with TVS supercharger. The car has become slow, i thought it was just me but many others have noticed. What could it be? Also when your near the red line is it normal to hear a squeal sound like a belt slipping?

If it's now stopped squealing, the belt has finally given up, as you haven't paid any attention to it crying for mercy.

The supercharger is driven by belts. If they slip, you've got no drive or limited drive.

Its still squealing but it only does it when high in revs at the redline. So basically the belt needs changed and it will sort the problem? Will this be the cause to the power loss? Is it worth getting a shorter belt?

No, the belt was the right length, but it's been stretched with age.

Handy to keep a set of spare belts in the boot

I take it the supercharger has to come off and its the belt at the back? If so i've checked the teeth and they seem in good condition

If the belts slipping you won't be getting boost from the charger so it will feel down on power

I dont think you can change rear belt on VXR8 in situ, not enough room, you can on a Monaro
