Enjoying a day off in the man cave

I thought I'd put Mark Adams' comment to the test.....if your plenum doesn't have the pre heat thing on the underside you can take the NS rocker cover off without removing the plenum itself

As i wanted to re paint my NS cover i though here we go.....slid out no bother. Cool :-)

Time to strip

So whilst I left that to work its magic I roped the wife in to move my bonnet into the lounge lol where else

As I was sick of my curly bonnet shield so a bit of evo stick and some bricks helped

Well time for a beer now :-)

She's great :-)

Once I finished stripping the rocker cover and washed it down outside. I needed to ensure there were no little bits behind the splash plate

So in the dishwasher it went :-)

I'm sure one day I'll push my luck to far lol

She'd be thrilled, just got to get her in the car, I've owned 11 TVRs and she's ever even sat in 1....hates them lol

OK... Nursy bought a house with an 800 square foot workshop for me to play in. She also went from being a bike hater (25 years in A&E does that to nurses) to a bike lover, to the point where not only does she insist on us riding to the South of France but she bought her own bike biggrin
Oh, she does moan at me... to get the TVR back on the road so we can go out in it bouncedriving

Right. My missus says she should win as she's very understanding, never nags about the time I spend in the garage and certainly never complains about the odd stain.

Glen = brings back memories - that's exactly how I did mine! I took the baffle plates out of the rocker covers though when cleaning rather than take the chance that some crud hadn't dropped behind them.

Hi Glen, make sure you poke the tiny breather hole out on that rocker cover once you've finished cleaning, if there is anything in there you might want to take the splash plate off anyway to get rid of what comes out.

I normally use Meguiars Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner on the rocker covers, Especially on the inside..Agitate with a piece of fine steel wool or a plastic scourer..Leave for 10 minutes and wash off...I find it works better than any Gunk product..I haven't used it on wheel's yet as I'm a bit sceptical about using anything other than car shampoo on my powder coated alloys...

Top tip zig, but didn't need to clean the inside of the covers as they were hardly coloured / tarnished at all......very clean

For cast aluminium parts in general, if you aren't worried about preserving a mirror finish or dimensionally-critical surfaces but just want to clean off the mank, caustic soda is the canine's cojones. You can buy it in granular form at places like Wilkinsons for pennies (well, a quid), dissolve a couple of capsful into water in a suitably-large plastic tub or bucket and watch that alloy fizz biggrin

Can also be used on the outsides...Nitromors first to remove the paint..(Or the caustic soda..Wear gloves in both cases)...If you are painting them then you will need some VHT primer....Etching primer will peel off when it gets hot...

You can use a heat gun to cure the paint quicker between coats but leave the last one wet...

Well all the scrubing gluing sticking priming and painting is done. Found a nice alloy oil filler cap on flea bay and some new TVR stickers as well

Better get it all fitted tonight ready for the David Gerald open day on Saturday
