I am planning to take my Weber gas BBQ to LM this year. I am wondering if the gas cannisters can be taken on Eurotunnel (I have been checking Leroy Marlin to see if they are available locally - 'mais non')
This is one I use

We take gas every year and have been through in a motorhome. We were told by the guys inspecting the motorhome (we were pulled over on the way out) that as long as the gas is not connected then we were perfectly OK to go.

Most smaller gas bottles whether exchange or disposable are available in Large Carrefour,Intermarche,Leclerc,Super U supermarkets or you may get in Norauto which is like Halfrauds. There is one just north of the circuit on way to town centre N138.
If they take it off you at Tunnel it`s not too expensive to buy another/different regulator and bottle in France anyway. I think it is only big stuff that they are concerned about normally on the crossing.

Keep an eye on the Le Mans regs too - That looks small and I assume that would get past the nazi security but best to make sure.

I took a caravan and nazi one tried to confiscate my gas bottles until she was overruled.

I was very amused at the search for contraband - If I'd wanted to smuggle stuff in I had under the seats, in the wardrobe in the cupboards etc. Not sure why she bothered to make me open the door.

yeah, think gas bottles have to be locked in a caravan / motorhome gas storage cupboard officially now on Le Mans campsites.
We added a gas connection point for the BBQ on the side of the motorhome to get round it last year wink
