I know it's your car an' all but that cut out grille with the green AIRTEC logo looks pretty grim, I have to be honest. I like what you've done with the fog surrounds etc but you've completely undone it with that front end.

Replace the grill and spray the intercooler black to get rid of that awful logo...

It's all trial and error, maybe a bit on the error side admittedly, but it can all be changed so it's not a problem.
anyone running the forge turbo actuator?

Erm...it's not really 'Q' car at all though, it looks exactly like a Focus ST just without the side badges.

If you want it properly understated you need to change the bumpers and wheels to those from a 1.6. Which would be ridiculous.

Just accept it's a boggo Focus ST and a reasonable hot hatch. Most people have seen thousands of them and 99% of the people you drive past couldn't care less what you're driving.

Well with a bit of luck the 1% of people that do take an interest, that do have in interest in cars will know it is a little bit different than just your boggo focus St.
The exact effect I was looking for.

Very anti it would seem, given your past life?

It looks at a glance like a boggo Focus with pilfered wheels/spoiler or to the less initiated, one of those shift the metal special editions. Which is probably part way there?

The biggest issue is probably looking far too shiney & well cared for. OP, you need invisi-grey, stone chips, a touch of rust, scabby alloys, dirt, occasional bird st and so on.

Maybe I was a bit gruff.

I just don't see the point in trying to make what's clearly an ST (to those in the know) look a little less like an ST but still an ST and then call it a 'sleeper'. It's a bit....backwards.

Buy a boggo 1.6, drop in the running gear from an ST and THEN you have a sleeper...

You could apply that argument to anything and it will almost always work both ways, even with some non-sleepers.

Thing is, most aren't in the know to start with. Adopt my approach, as in grey, dirty, slightly knackered etc (albeit that's not deliberate on my part, in that way) and you have an equally good start point.

I have no interest in doing anything with mine beyond move on or run into the ground, but can see it has some potential on this front.

Mine had something of a reputation on the STOC for being a bit 'well-used'...!

At some point, I'll do my Hogan 'call that a knife' hehe.

Will also kill that Ford interiors die after 5 yards crap. Something to be said for hard, crappy but hardy stuff. However, the outside looks slightly less good.

It has extra badges, whereas mine has been an Ocus for some time now. Also, mine looks considerably trashier all round, but it is a good way to the moon smile.
Want to move on now, but proving somewhat difficult - maybe a SOTW entry soon!

What s everyones opinions on maps stage 2 or 3?
Stage 2 should see 290 bhp and clutch should be fine, stage 3 about 315 bhp and will almost certainly fry the clutch, want to keep safe driveability but 315 bhp is tempting.
As for peoples opinions?
Well were all entitled to them.
Map will be soon,no update just now just a good pic.

Surely the less than 10% difference is as much down to the driver as much as anything else, clutch wise? Admittedly I have no interest in the upgrade road, but always seems as much down to mechanical sympathy as much as anything else IMHO, within certain boundaries. I'd be looking to sort the oil diaphragm before the clutch, from personal experience.

If you're after 300bhp+, why not just buy something that's designed to put that power down and not need upgrades to things like the clutch?

The ST is a good hot hatch but chasing big power numbers in a FWD car already known for torquesteering seems a little daft.

Stick a map on it to get it to around 270-280 and just enjoy...

99% of me - yes.

The other smidge nono, but crappy starting point. It isn't even a hardy version of the Volvo'd Audi 5, tuning wise.

Standard, hardy pig iron is the way to fly wink

Of all the ST colour options, black is best for a sleeper look.. As opposed to orange like mine, you have no chance with that! laugh

Other than a cat-back Cobra non-res exhaust and DreamScience Performance+ remap, mine is standard. It's a little punchier than standard, and sounds just about right without being silly. More than happy. If I want louder, faster...I have a TVR for that.

As for mpg, I have no idea how accurate the on board computer is, but I average around 27-29mpg....but I am old and tend to drive more like Miss Daisy these days. wink

No idea tbh.. Has to be more than standard, my guess would be around 250ish with the exhaust and DS Perf+ remap?
In an ideal world I'd like more but, then you're entering a world of increased expense and potential wear failure. My clutch is fine at this power, but I worry about liner issues and drive shaft wear. My car has 38000 miles but needed a new o/s drive shaft last year.

I saw a tidy orange one the other day but the owner had seen fit to put a sizable sticker on the back that said

"Keep Droolin, Whilst I'm Spoolin"

Or something equally as cringeworthy.

Presumably the "Droolin" was in reference to the owner
