Why is it so hard to place a classified ad?

I've ben trying without success to place a classified ad. I can't log in and therefore sent an email asking for help. No response received. Having skimmed through some of these posts I suspect I might need a separate login for the classifieds. Is this correct and is it free to place an ad? Perhaps it's me, but should it really be so difficult...
