Watch Doctor, Tring, for Rolex service?
Discussion
Can anybody vouch for their abilities. It's a 2007 Submariner Anniversary which has become grumpy.
Does having them do the service reduce it's value at all as opposed to Rolex themselves doing it? I know Rolex do a full refurb on the exterior to supposedly as new appearance, but I'm not sure I want that.
Any rough idea of costs also?
Thanks in advance.

Hello
I am a pre-owned watch dealer and use WatchDoctors to service and prepare all my watches before resale. By doing this I know that they are Rolex trained, have access to Rolex parts and do a good job much faster than a Rolex service centre. The watch is then returned with a 12 month warranty which I then pass onto my customer. In my view this is the best I can do for a pre-owned watch apart from sending it to Rolex.
For example I have just bought in a 2004 Rolex Yachtmaster that was in good order but is now 11 years old. It will be serviced and as part of that service Rolex insist various parts must be changed. The case and strap will be polished and all in it is about £300 plus VAT and will be back with me for sale in 10 days!
If I were buying a pre-owned Rolex privately or from a business I would be content with WatchDoctors servicing it. It is mainly only Rolex dealers that will send their stock back to Rolex or perhaps particularly expensive watches where the dealer values the 2 year Rolex warranty as a unique selling point for a watch. Having a £5-15K watch away for 6 weeks is not helpful!

I've been using Watch Doctors for some time now. Had my Daytona serviced by them and it came back looking like new. Colleagues have used them and have had no problems at all with them. As has been said, Watch Doctors can service watches within 10-14 days and are Rolex trained and use Rolex parts and are also a cheaper than Rolex themselves for a service. I've also had an Omega I have serviced by them and again no problems at all.
Just a word of warning and as yet I am awaiting their update. I have used Watch Doctors 3 times now, 16750 GMT, 16710 GMT all serviced and returned without a problem. Polite and efficient etc.
I sent them my prized 16710 it's a 1997 watch and is very special to me as its when I finished Uni and started work.
I sent my watch RMSD and they confirmed receipt and called within a couple of days to agree service cost which I duly paid. Once work was done they called to agree and confirm it was coming back RMSD. 2 days later no watch.
Called in to chase and have now been told that my watch was in a bag along with 24 others from WD that has been pulled by Royal Mail to check weights? Which sounds suspicious to me; my worst fear is that someone in the process of collecting a bag of 25 assumed high value watches has basically stolen the lot?
This is as I say all I have been told and is now in the hands of the Royal Mail who will conduct a 48 hour investigation.
This isn't a name and shame as I have always had good experiences with them but at the moment I am expecting the worst and waiting to hear what they have to say on Monday morning.
