How to get to Mulsanne Corner?
Discussion
Evening chaps - starting to put some thoughts together for the 'must do' like for LM'15 and I reckon Mulsanne corner for sunrise with sunset at Porsche curves. How would you suggest getting across to Mulsanne during the small hours of the morning? Driving won't be an option as I'm sure a handful of beers will be consumed. Taxi, Tram, walk(!!)?

There's a free bus that runs "regularly" all 24hrs, in a loop from main circuit entrance (nearest corner of the car park directly opposite the main entrance) -> Arnage (outside the Arngage car park) -> Mulsanne (by the big tree in the Mulsanne car park). Sometimes the bus also stops opposite the entrance to Beausejour, but that seems to vary from year to year and isn't always a 24hr stop. NOTE: It's a French "regularly" though and we've sometimes had to wait an hour in the dark wee hours at both the main entrance and Arnage.
There's also a taxi rank opposite the main entrance, right next to where the bus departs. Having waited an hour we jumped in a cab to Arnage corner a few years back and don't remember it being too expensive. If you've got passable French and do that, take a note the number and you can give them call to get you from Arnage->Mulsanne, or home.

How far is far to walk from one end to the other?
Personally I wouln't walk it for a couple of reasons.1. Distance: Although the race cars are only going 1.5 miles between Mulsanne and Argange and 1.1 miles between Arnage and Beausjour you're going to have go around all the road closures that make things a lot further. Hard to be sure what's open/closed but looking at Google maps you're looking at a 3.2 miles walk from Beausjour and Arnage and another 2.9 miles from there to Mulsanne. If you're not in Beausjour you then need to add the walk from your camp site to there.
2. Pavements: Or more correctly lack their-of. You'll be walking along narrow roads with just small grass virges and ditches being driven along by a mix of bikes, cars and busses - and a mix of drivers from sober to drunk.
Never been a great fan of Mulsanne corner always felt too far away from the action.
For the sake of refraining from the beer I would recommend getting someone to drive - first out to Porsche Curves, onto Indianapolis / Arnage, then Hotel Arbor on 2nd Chicane and finally black ops around the Chinese at Hunadieres

Traffic and parking during the race itself can be a pain in the arse so I'd look at taking a bus. There's also a little train which I think goes as far as Arnage but maybe not Mulsanne.
I'm planning to go out to Arnage and Mulsanne on Wednesday and Thursday wen hopefully it'll be quieter.
I've often wanted to go to Hotel Arbor on the Mulsanne straight Can you just turn up or is apace limited?

In respect to the Hotel Arbor - they normally charge a fee at the gate per person which from memory is about 10 euros although you do get a beer and sandwich included.
Directions: As you go through Mulsanne follow the signs to Le Mans, as you leave Mulsanne take the first left and then 1st right which appears to be a forest track, at the end of which is the hotel

There are 8 Petit Trains, but they only run to/from the camp sites.Bobo W said:

Although a trek to get there I actually like it. It's the only place you can legally get up close to the cars going at any speed on the public road section.Edited by //j17 on Monday 30th March 18:15

In so much as Mulsanne is the only official tribune where you can get up close to the cars travelling at any reasonable speed I would agree, however I would take issue over any perceived legality of watching at other points that aren't official tribunes.
If you (or somebody else) decides to take the car or bike, here is a Google Maps route that takes you from Beausejour Campsite entrance towards Mulsanne, passing by Arnage on route: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/47.93637,0.21529...
(not my map, got it from PH a few years ago, don't remember the original author)

Hi, always looking for a new experience, after many visits. Is this as easy as you suggest, just drive out and pay on the gate for a view of the cars on Mulsanne. Would love to see them on the straight, without having to resort to SAS tactics. Is it a 'busy' area for viewing, i.e are there queues along the access roads to the hotel ?Directions: As you go through Mulsanne follow the signs to Le Mans, as you leave Mulsanne take the first left and then 1st right which appears to be a forest track, at the end of which is the hotel

Handy, but remember if driving the bit past Arnage corner is one way during the race so the return is via Les Leuers.(not my map, got it from PH a few years ago, don't remember the original author)
Le Cycle or Walk
I've walked it before, Walked from Porsche Curves down to Arnage, then continued onto Mulsanne Corner
Rucksack stocked with JD and a Bottle of Rouge and Le baguette and Fromage helps a lot, torch comes in handy too, the lanes south of Arnage are rather dark.
Walked back again too
