...is replaced with a foam cannon salute.

Just read this on Twitter, apparently it was the return leg of the inaugural Manchester to Atlanta flight and got covered in fire retardant foam instead of water so they had to cancel it!

No: all kinds of external fittings potentially blocked by the foam, they would need thorough inspection & testing before flight. The foam is not intended to be applied to an aircraft that's expected to fly in the immediate future...

It's not as if it's "new" anyway - it's just changed from being operated by Delta to being operated by Virgin.
