I use the usual Autoglym, Gunk, Solvo Autosol etc, has anyone found any really good products for cleaning bodywork, engine, chassis, suspension, interior etc.?

I have no idea how to clean an engine, but on the rest of the car I use:

Autoglym shampoo followed by the resin polish and then the high gloss wax.

Inside I use Autoglym interior shampoo, tesco windows cleaner, and some vieda mico cloths from tescos again.

On the windscreen I use Rainx.

I have tried other cleaners and polishes like Mer, Halfords on, Turtlewax, and so on, but the Autoglym stuff seems to work better.

I always put engines down as things not to mess with unless something's broken -- especially since cleaning it would involve spraying water over it which, I'm told, is A Bad Thing.

Thats what I thought. It seems like a disaster in the making adding water to a TVR enine with all the electrical stuff about.

Autoglym engine cleaner works really well, but the engine must be stone cold or the water will get into the electrics.

My brother in law and I have both got Griffiths and he used Gunk cleaned off with a rag on his engine (no water), looks great but driving down to Goodwood Festival of Speed the fumes nearly choked us! But it does look good.......

if you want to clean the engine use an aerosol can of electrical cleaner on the grubby bits but dont spray directly onto seals, works really well

for the plenium use an alloy wheel cleaner

Autoglym super resin polish is good for the rocker covers, infact everything IMO

WD40 is a good solvent for the light oily muck that accumulates around engines, and also brake dust deposits too, I found. Just spray it on and wipe off with a rag or kitchen towel.

Well, I have always used petrol or parafin to clean engine bays. Seems to do the job very nicely. NOTE: Don't poor the petrol on the engine otherwise you might have a bit of a fire (which wouldn't be good), just put some on a rag and clean over with that.

Simon

I always use Autoglym shampoo but for a change tried Zymol the other day. Good stuff. Think it has the edge over Auto Glym for shifting exhaust deposits on the rear.

Looked at the Autoglym engine cleaner and was put off by the directions of rinse thoroughly with a hose!!
Any thoughts as to whether it is a good idea or not as my engine is pretty mucky and I would like it to gleam!
