Hmm the first McLaren i've not instantly liked the look of. If i was in the market for spending that sort of cash on a new car I'm really not sure it would tempt me from the obvious 911 Turbo. However I'd be reasonably confident it will be good to drive and hopefully it looks better in the metal.

The inside is super, the front is pretty good, the rear looks a bit poor. I feel like they need to simplify some of these swoopy shapes a bit. Not much beats simple 4 circular rear lights on a sports/super car.

Flying buttresses are often quite a nice feature so interesting to see them here.

Found this shot of a 599 sans buttresses (possibly being wrapped)

Does the rear windscreen on the 570S drop down? (Presumably not). Wonder if it will stay clear of rain/spray...

Considering they started with a blank sheet, McL are making a pigs ear of the model line up.

If people on a car forum are getting confused....
It's fairly straightforward actually, it's just all a bit new and not as well known as the Porsche lineup.

There are three model lines with variations underneath:

Sports Series: 570S, (plus one other still to come)
Super Series: 675LT, 650S Coupe, 650S Spider
Ultimate Series: P1, P1 GTR

It's not that complicated and is all explained on the website. Without offending anyone, I don't think "people on a car forum" should be, or are the people that McLaren are worrying about. Anyone serious about buying something from them (some of which may be on a car forum admittedly) should have no trouble visiting the website/copntacting a dealer and understanding the model lineup.

I can't wait to see road-tests of this against it's contemporaries, it would be great to see some British cars kicking some German and Italian arse for a change.

I bet it will be a bugger to keep clean. All those honeycombs around the rear lights..... still, nice problem to have.

For similar money you have the 991 turbo S and I'm pretty sure I'd prefer to have the 570 to look at.

Unlike the author of the original article, I too think that this is their most successful styling effort to date (P1included, though F1 excepted). Certainly their first offering that I might consider, albeit as a second-hand buy in three or four years time.

Just one thing. Please, please, please (pretty please) engineer a manual 'box for it.

Please.

Can't put my finger on it but, to my eyes at least, I like this more than the 650/12C etc. It looks tighter, more compact.

Something doesn't work for me with the front aero detail in silver/grey but looks great in orange.

If it we me I'd want one without touch screen and frippery. The centre console looks cheap and would rather it went entirely to be replaced by buttons/switches.

This or a Porsche. This every day.

Another Mclaren not to spend my virtual millions on....

I just do not like their design language or model strategy (whichever one they decide on from week to week)

Elements of this one look okay, but as a whole i just don't think it looks good. Same goes for the interior.

If my virtual millions were real millions, it would be an easy decision for me not to spend it on any mclaren product. Unless it was many millions and it was an F1.

The "quoting dry weight" pandemic seems to be getting worse and worse. Things like this give marketing a bad name.

Just as useful as stating "I weigh 70 kgs... without blood."

Sorry, but for what it's worth (not much !) I'd just say it looks ok, like one of the better Japanese fashion conscious pocket rockets.....Whereas 20 years ago they had the F1 which stopped everyone in their tracks, petrol head or not. It just seemed so right, and multiple wins at Le Mans proved that it really was RIGHT !!

Best looking modern McLaren, but not sure about the growth on top of the centre console...

It will go, sound and drive very similar to the others probably, except that it will be slower.

The F1 was slightly more expensive though, wink
