Hi All,

I was pondering the above today and thought the PH crowd would know the answers...

So, what's the best 'Q car' fresh out of the factory?

I was thinking the original E28 M5 without the M-Tech kit was pretty stealth, as well as a debadged Volvo T5. Then there's the Audi A6 Estate with that V10...

I'm sure there's a fair more to be mentioned :-)

Cheers,

C.

Allways liked the Mercedes W124 E500, for Q'ness

My old B5 Audi Avant S4 ( debadged ) was quite a Q car

I bought a new Skoda Fabia VRS estate in Jan for daily stting about in. Its great and goes like stink with the bonus of having loads of room, cheap to buy and run.

That gets my vote.

This Evo article explains why: http://www.evo.co.uk/bmw/5-series/13348/bmw-m5-e28...

The red car in those pics was actually ordered from the factory without any M5 badges, with standard 518i chrome, no front splitter etc etc. It looked about as under the radar as a shiny red car ever could. And yet it was faster than just about anything else on the road.

Proper Q car.

The 16V Turbo Thema was quicker than the 8.32.

The Saab 9000 Aero 2.3 was advertised as being quicker than a Porsche and Ferrari for one rolling acceleration bench mark.

Same platform but Saab did a lot more to improve it wink

9000 Aero seats here. Comfiest seats I've ever sat in!!

Edit! Read your post wrong!

Yeah 0-60 was around 6.5 secs standard iirc but mid range clout was very good. You can get these absolutely flying for peanuts smile

Audi s4 (looks no sportier than a tdi s-line)
Jaguar XJ supersports

Still, one might reasonably expect an Audi or jaguar to be quick.

How about something like an Octavia vrs, insignia vxr or mondeo/smax with the 2.5 turbo/2.0 eco boost engine or Mazda 3/6 Mps or a Subaru forester turbo/legacy spec b?

Rover 620ti...

2 litre turbo (Rover T-series engine, not Honda as some think!)
197bhp
0-60mph in 7.2s
Top speed 143mph

All in an innocuous 4 door saloon with a Rover badge, that looked like it was your grandad's car.

Now that's a Q-car!

Although it's awful to behold, I do agree that is a superb example of a Q car. Good call sir
