Looks like a few of the Corvette people have found and alternative to Wheels day...

In case you don't realise, but Wheels Day this year is a closed show. If you haven't entered and received your tickets, you will NOT get entry in your car - it will only be on foot. You'll be parked in the public car park.

We have therefore found an alternative, - HOT ROD ROUND UP at Popham Airfield - not a million miles away from Wheels Day! ALL Corvettes will be welcome, be it new or old and I understand we have an allocated parking area.

Please see below for details of meeting up beforehand for those that would like to go in together.

Just to let you know the meeting point details for Corvettes going to HOT ROD ROUND UP this Friday!
I appreciate that you are all coming from different directions and the M3 Southbound will be a nightmare around the M25 for a few junctions, so those that can come via the A3 to A31 I would suggest that you take that route! I imagine that the World and his wife will be on the M3 on Good Friday going west/south so good luck if you have to take that route! I'm sure most of you have Sat Nav's but for those that don't here's some directions!

Meeting point:
The Raven Hotel
Station Road
Hook
RG27 9HS

From the A31 (Hogs Back) at Farnham, Shepherd & Flock Roundabout, take a right to the A3016 (A287) towards Odiham. Follow the signs and when you get to a set of traffic lights, take a left (think the sign is obscured and the turning is immediately after the lights). At the roundabout after the petrol station, take first exit. Once you get to the turn off for Odiham (do NOT go into Odiham), follow the signs for the A287 towards Reading. When you get to the roundabout OVER the M3 at Hook, take the 2nd exit to Hook. After that roundabout follow the signs for Hook Station. At next Roundabout, turn left, past Tesco's on the right, over the bridge and immediately afterwards take the right turn to the station. As you turn right The Raven Hotel is in front of you.

We will be meeting at 9.00 a.m. to leave at 09.15a.m. sharp. PLEASE NOTE: It is a Pay and Display Car Park - the first hour free, but we have been advised that you NEED to go to the ticket machine, put in your registration number, press the 'Green button' and get a ticket.
One final thing, would it be possible to let me know if you're coming along, so that I can let the organisers know and hopefully get us an area all together?

Vaughan went. I've been working all weekend so didn't bother trying to register. He said it was much quieter, still had the trade stands etc.

TBH I've been moaning for a while about some of the cars on the showfield while they were turning away proper muscle. I know its hard to organise a show like this etc and what kicked off after last year was bang out of order but I worry about the pre-book route they've taken simply because of how much of a gamble the weather has always been at this show with it being so early in the year. Most make their mind up the morning of the show, if its pre book only and it turns out to be on a dodgy weather day, they could easily end up with a near empty field.

Yes I did wheels day but I couldn't be bothered with all the pre register and hope you get picked agro but fortunately was able to take my challenger and out it on north Hants tyres stand, had I not had that then I probably wouldn't have gone, it's was still a good show and I really enjoyed it, yes the field was only a third full but I'm sure weather had a part of that, I'm hoping that the pre register was just for one year as in my view it may have got rid of the unwanted st that used to fill the field and I'm really hoping it will start to rebuild itself I er the next few years, my only hope is they took sufficient money this year to break even so they can continue and not throw the towel in, I was concerned that the trades that supported the show may not have done to well due to the low numbers and just hope they are willing to return, I know northants didn't sell much but others commented they did better than last year, so fingers crossed we're be back in track next year biggrin
