I have the M6 GC CP, and TBH can not use the power here at all, it's so quick.
I am looking at a 3 series XDrive 335D M Sport fully loaded , and mapped.
I have asked for the "Long Beach Blue" colour which is the new X6M colour.
Will fit the AC Schnitzer springs all round to lower it.
I have been offered this car fully loaded +£14K for mine, what do you guys think?.
I'm thinking you've only just got the M6 GC, thought you were totally in love with it wink

You'll miss it going to a 335D M Sport yes
As someone who went from 335d xdrive to M5, I wouldn't do it unless you're going to be doing huge mileage and therefore don't what to spend £1000's per month on fuel.

DI Tuning do a good box, anyone thought of using them in the UK?>
I did a lot of research and ruled out both TDI Tuning and DTUK (are they the same company), due to more negative than positive reviews.

I didn't read any negative reviews on the RaceChip Ultimate box. There have been loads of dyno's and reviews in the US, but mainly on the X5 forums as the diesel engine is more common.

I'm pretty sure there are some RaceChip YouTube videos too.

It was a slight risk, but I've used tuning boxes before so know what to expect and how to deal with them especially since they have settings that can be changed.

I might be wrong but I thought Superchips bought in RaceChip and rebranded to sell.

My advise would be to do lots of research first. There are some very highly priced boxes out there and with many the only benefit is some 3rd party warranty.

I thought of you straight away when I saw the post from JMBMWM5, I get in some ways that its not easy to use all the power of a M5/M6 but I would imagine its down right lovely to have it! and it will be miles more enjoyable than rattling around in an oil burner that's for sure!

I also live in the SE and can't believe how often I see scamera vans just before fixed cameras........

The A24 north of the Washington roundabout is a prime example.

Have I missed something!

Why would someone compare an M6 and a 640D.

If you cover large mileage and cannot afford it, get the D

If you cover large mileage and can afford it, get the M

All this about chipping the diesel, so it has the speed, so what, it is still a diesel, not an M.

Why people want to compare diesel and petrol, when most people know the pros and cons. The biggest decision is costs.

It's a friendly discussion about the pros and cons, many on the thread have had powerful diesels and M cars.

If you don't want to discuss it, why bother posting?

April 1st was just over 2 weeks ago... wink

I honestly can't decide whether or not it was a serious question, but just in case here's my serious answer:

The warm weather is finally upon us, and you currently own one of the finest rwd cars currently in production. You'd be MAD to make such a change.

M5 frugal edition:

Yesterday I did similar distance and slightly higher average speed - have the 300bhp 535d no Eco pro was mainly in Comfort but did have one or two full revs accelerations air con on all the way.
Anyway I averaged 49mpg - I wasn't trying for economy not was I breaking speed limits (well a few times wink ).

The newer 313bhp 535d in Eco pro no doubt would have been deep into the 50's mpg.

So nearly 70% more efficient than the granny driven M5.

That's very impressive however I'd still rather have an M5 than a 535D.

Can I ask what point you are trying to make welshy?

If you drive an M5 or M6 I'm bloody sure in reality fuel economy is of interest but by no means a deal breaker.

My wifes 120D M Sport will do more MPG than your car and get me from a-b comfortably but I don't want to drive it......
