Hi, sorry if it's a stupid question but this is the first time I've had a new uprated clutch fitted

Car is a Audi A4 B7 2.0T 2wd, had a 034motorsport lightweight alloy flywheel and spec stage3+ clutch fitted, done just over 200miles so far but most is motorway driving, the juddering has got a lot better but still does it when taking off in 1st gear and into 2nd, sometimes on down shifts too, I've drove sensible and slowly on the clutch which is what I was told to bed it in

Just wondered if this judder is normal and will it definitely disappear once bedded in?

It's a carbon semi metallic full friction clutch

Many thanks
Jason

If it is already getting better then it will probably sort itself out, sounds like a high spot on the clutch plate which will wear down.

Ok thanks will see how it goes then

Should I carry on bedding it in gently until the juddering has gone?

It's a competition metallic clutch on a light alloy flywheel. It is never going to be silky smooth.

The judder may reduce over time, or it may not, or your driving style may be causing more juddering.

Basically dont slip the clutch, then it cant judder.

But with any non organic type disc, or carbon, there is never a guarantee they'll be nice to drive, but the flywheel wont be helping your cause either.

Cheers Steve

I don't mind living with it if I know it can be normal

I know the flywheel won't be helping, and the clutch chatter is epic.

Maybe I'm being to gentle, if I release it quicker I doubt it would judder to be honest

'Clutch chatter'??!! There shouldn't be any noise...

Fitting race car parts to a road car will never end happily. If the power is so much it is overcoming an organic friction plate and a race type one must be fitted then I retain the original weight flywheel, I would much rather miss out on the .02 second o-60 advantage and retain good driveability.

Americans call things by stupid names.

Chatter = judder.

Spec3 are american...so guess they need to use american terms. Even people here start to stay stock instead of standard etc !!!

Next they'll be spelling things wrong like the yanks do too !

Don't get me started on English Language!
Like defense, license and color? The US invasion and ruination of our lovely colourful language is already here, speak to most people these days and the word 'like' gets inserted several times into every sentence where it shouldn't be, the Yoof are even worse, they'll start a sentence with like, use it every other word and then end it with 'like'. The word 'Nice' used to be a place in France, it's now used to describe bloody absolutely everything because we copy the Americans (who are lazy and have no imagination). I remember getting a bking at school by my English teacher for that, all those lovely adjectives ignored, it's a slippery slope I tell you! hehe

Anyhow, that aside, are you ready for this season? I was talking to Specky they other day (he lives not far from my workshop), his engine isn't even built yet.

Not familiar with the engine and clutch on your car, but has a dual-mass flywheel been replaced with a solid one?
Engine design takes the dual-mass into account, if eliminated judder could perhaps result due to the change.

I had a Helix Autosport uprated clutch fitted to my 2.0T Golf and fitted a new DMF and it's as smooth as standard, just a heavier pedal.
