As title really. Like the look of a newish civic, but need an auto. Is it doable to tune the 1.8 petrol? Or should I just look for something with more power out of the box? If so, what?

The 1.8 engine in the Civic has about the same or a little more power than the MKIII Golf GTI 16v, how much power do you think you need in a hatchback?

0-60 takes 10.9 seconds. That's not great really.

I'd try one before you make your mind up. It might be a quirk in the gearing making for a slow 0-60 time (which in reality is bks anyway) but gaining elsewhere. My Jazz has a 11.5 second 0-60 time, but is actually much nippier than that time suggests it should be.

Remember, you have to thrash a Honda engine.

All fair comments Willy nilly. I was just wondering if a bit more go was achievable?

I am aware of rempas for the 1.8 on the mark 8 civic which I think is still the same lump.

If memory serves people were getting about 15bhp more but better mid range response as the vtec line was brought down the Rev range if you had you're foot down hard.

Not sure how it improved 0-60 times but I have never thought it was worth it.

Mcight be worth going over to civinfo and asking around
