focus ST 225 upgrade
Discussion
Evening all,
Currently I Have a mk2 st and the clutch has gone on it, it is a 55 plate car. I have priced up a new ST clutch and a new RS clutch, but i was told the RS clutch won't fit, is there any truth in this matter?
I'm hoping to get the car to dream science and have an inter cooler fitted and get the mod x remap put on the car too.
basically i'm just looking for a bit of advice as I dont want to gamble buying the clutch kit if it won't fit my car>
Thanks,
Dan

Diffs in the gearbox, nothing to do with the clutch. You can fit a LSD while the box is out, which would save labour in taking it out again, but to fit the diff the gearbox needs splitting and stripping, so is quite expensive in diff and labour time. I'm running 300 bhp on an open diff and its not 'that' bad. Would make it better to fit, but its not uncontrollable.

what will the standard ST clutch hold upto bhp wise? if it's not a strong clutch it makes sense to change it while it's knackered
Pass....... its a lottery. Mate had a car running over 300 bhp on the standard clutch at 100k miles (06 plate). I had , to begin with, 260 bhp ( mountune MP260) at 40k miles and couldn't cope (07 plate). Best to just fit the RS , its the same price or thereabouts and the recommended upgrade.Gassing Station | Ford | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
