Cake? No-one else has mentioned cake so far in this thread. Cake frequently changes my perspective on many things. If there is going to be cake, I'm far more keen to turn up... wink

Hopefully I might be able to join this. Have only ridden blue so far and likely to go around a few of the scarier jumps but I assume that level is ok? Will give me an excuse to hurry up the build of my new on one inbred.

If you can do Blue, you can do Red - only difference is that the Red trails have a little more in the way of roots, and slightly narrower tracks. There isnt a single "jump" that has to be "jumped" - all can be rolled over without looking stupid. There are two incredibly exciting & flowing downhill sections on Red - dont worry, you will love them - and down the bottom it widens out and you will be going a fair lick - theres a few humps that you will just automatically get a bit of air on. You dont need to do anything except keep the handlebars straight and try not to laugh!
Im pretty quick around the forest overall and my wheels very rarely leave the ground except on that section.

yep, not really any jumps at all in Swinley. A couple of 'fast humps' (Kevlar?) later on the red loop but you can roll them. Red is just a bit steeper downs and more natural/rooty trails. More like the Swinley of old...

Talent and fitness is not really required as I proved last outing

Bizarrely, Blue is actually the more fun trail in my opinion - especially the 2nd half which has the really huge 180-degree berm, and also the very last set of downhill berms before you get back to the Lookout (did i mention im now ranked #6 of 9,200 on that?) biggrin

Totally agree with this if for no reason other than its totally different from all the other natural trails I ride

I also agree with this. I'm currently a local for 1 more month at sherwood pines and all I want to do is ride swinley blue again it's just so much fun in comparison.

Which segment is the downhill from the open area near a fenced bit in, think it's quite far into red? That's my favourite bit. Big berms table top jump rooty. Where the DH kids hang out.

Well, theres several routes down - the official one, which is part of the Red route is "DeerStalker". The next one (to the right) is Babymaker. Not sure what the other one is called. All end up in the clearing where Labyrinth starts.

Could also be Red 15/Big Dipper which starts by the reservoir (fenced in bit?). Love that section although there are some stty roots in the middle. Ends up just before the climb back up to the clubhouse (where the DH kids hang out).

That's it, by the reservoir. Love it certainly my favourite, you get loads of speed up very quickly then it's all jumps and fun.

Was there on Saturday, large chunks closed due to ground nesting birds and tree felling, not to mention the pipeline. First one where you leave the outbound blue for the red. All felled and track diverted. I didn't find "Tank Traps" so guess this is part of that section. Also on return red there's a split (new to me anyway) where one bit goes to post 29 (I think). Don't remember doing that bit before so probably missed some more. Plenty left though.
