Potential for mid-20s in southern England next week if the high pressure that arrives at the weekend shunts in to the correct place - which is looking hopeful!

It will all start with a chilly northerly though, so cold nights with single digit temps!

So now summer has officially ended. How does it rate on the st scale? Does 2 weeks of warm weather count as normal. frown

Omega block for the jetstream next week.

High pressure over us, low each side. Why could it not happen earlier in the year when the sun was higher? Still, whinge over, I am on leave next week so saved a few quid on going abroad. Torquay calls... smile

For the South East, the start of summer was lovely. Dry and warm enough.

August was missable though. I can remember 3 properly hot days across all of summer - and that's poor.

I now have two ripe tomatoes, which shows how poor a summer it's been.

A 2-tomato summer, that's bad.

176th 'warmest' in the CET according to one source.

Looks like the toms might do better in September, in the south at least - looking nice for the foreseeable.

Edit, 178th, the last few days were colder!

In that case I think we've found the date for the start of the Winter Snow thread.

Technically an Indian summer is when unseasonably warm weather happens after a frost... All very pleasant though!

Some might argue Scotland have seen a frost already (maybe)

We drove back from France on Saturday; 20 degree temperature drop between Paris on Saturday evening and Somerset on Sunday evening. Two weeks of mid-30s in the Pyrenees, but even down there everything is greener than I've seen it for some time for August.
