Pretty 100% sure much I have been caught doing around 48 in a 40 by a mobile van

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ll=53.413...

He was parked behind the bridge support on the left

250 meters before the 50 sign

ah well, here's hoping I get the speed awareness course :/

An indicated 48 is probably close to an actual 43 which might just fall within the tolerance.

Fingers crossed you're lucky. If not you should only get the awareness course for 48 in a 40 surely?

Yes it should be a speed awareness course that when I did one thought I learned quite a lot and at £85 was a lot better than a £100 fine and 3 points.

You may be lucky they may have been chatting, sipping their coffee just at the moment you were passing.

40? Could easily do 80 there without much problem it looks to me.

I agree it could easily be a 70

The law states that as this road has street lighting it would normally be a 30 unless it has signs for 40,50,60 etc.Changing this type of road from a 40 to a 50 has only one purpose,to catch people speeding.

Tough luck Cirian. They want us to ignore the children and the puppies and just watch out for vans. I had nothing for 27 years then got a sneaky 3 for 89 on a deserted dry dual carraigeway (70)... Darn bridge support camo too. All just clean again now tho.

Fingers crossed.

The overriding question here would seem to be, "Why is a 40 mph limit imposed on this road?"

If I didn't have any points in 16 years, I wouldn't waste an afternoon on some stupid course. I'll just pay the fine and take the 3points.

Not a ‘Finger Lickin’ Good’ choice. You would probably learn something and have a KFC after.

This road needs to be marked NSL - just ridiculous.

If he's never been caught speeding in 16 years then I don't think he really needs to learn anything!

Three points hardly makes a difference. Just a little poorer.

You need to pay for the course though... isn't the 3 points the cheaper option?

It probably would work out cheaper by the time you pay for the course and take a day off work.

We don't get the speed awareness courses up here in Scotland, but I just think they will be mostly a waste of time. We all know the dangers and have seen the shock videos before, yet always think that we are safe.

It's a bit patronising turning up for speeding course knowing you've only accepted it to avoid points and probably won't start driving like a saint.
