The oh and I are strongly considering getting married abroad

I've got my eye on the carribean, she isn't too fussed. After a very subtle beach type thing with very few (none if I can get away with it) guests.

Anyone got any tips? I've never actually booked a propery holiday abroad (we have family in various destinations so have always stopped with them or they have arranged our accommodation.)

The only issue may be the arrival of defcon5 jr! He is 7mo and will likely be 2+ when we get married. Will I regret going abroad with him?

Is a fortnight somewhere nice and all inclusive doable for 4-5k? How is best to book it? Whilst I'm reluctant to simply hand over my credit card to a travel agents I really can't do with any hassle in doing it all myself!

We got married in Turkey. We didn't go all-inclusive but I remember while I was researching it all that most of the all-inclusive places did weddings.

It cost around £5k for everything; a two week holiday, all the paperwork, ceremony and food for nearly 50 guests. It also covered the rings which we got over there and a free bar for most of the night so yep, it can certainly be done smile

And I should add that it was a lot of fun and almost entirely stress free.

I've been to weddings in the Caribbean and Thailand.
Thailand wins, hands down, for me.
The service mentality of the Thais is so much superior to the Caribbean Islands that I have encountered.
Never do All Inclusive in Thailand though, as eating out, can be absolutely dirt cheap.
Have done Thailand with nippers of similar age to yours and it's no issue. The Thais will be like unpaid baby sitters for a lot of the time, if you choose the right destination.

I got married on a beach in Barbados, very chilled out, we had circa 16 guests from memory, which worked well as a group size. Everyone came for a week, we didn't all hang around together but got together a few times for dinner etc and then the actual wedding day itself. They paid from £800 each for the week, flights & accommodation.

We made our trip a no kids wedding (including both of ours) so that the adults could relax and have fun without haven't to worry about the kids. I appreciate that this maybe the complete opposite to what a lot of others may want to do on their wedding day, but it really worked for us as nobody was stressed!

Top tip - pick your time of year carefully if do the Caribbean as it can make a massive difference to the price if you are on a budget. If you get it right, you can get great weather just out of peak season but pay low season prices. Bonza!

Couple of mates have done it, one in Cyprus one in the Caribbean. They each said it was great, but they'd rather it wasnt quite such a battery hen / production line feeling, the Cyprus one could see the next couple after them waiting for them to finish so they could get married. He said he felt then that the fakery that went with the getting married on a beach wasnt as special as a church, but still enjoyed the experience
