Hi all I was wondering if people could help.

I am starting to look external for jobs now as I fancy/need a change.

I have a cv written and wonder if someone could have a scan on vet it and possibly give me some pointers

Also I have never had/written a cover letter so don't know what these should contain so some pointers and help on this would be great aswell.

Happy to provide some feedback on your CV if you pass it across; it will be basic feedback without knowing a whole host of background and career trajectory information but it should still help.

Cover letters; again, a whole piece of work here around approach and impact. Key issue is write in first person (CV is in third) and cover the 3 key areas in 3 paragraphs (why you can do the job; why you'll enjoy doing the job; and why you'll fit the organisation)

Good luck!

If i was to submit my CV online, through a job search site, would a cover note be necessary?
Or is there some IT jiggery pokery that pulls out the key words and passes it on to the representative?

When posting to agency website (one of the large job sites) typically a recruitment consultant will receive it, match it with any jobs they have and give you a call. They will "vet" you on the phone, send you the job details they have. You then either say to them to forward your cv for the role or not, no cover letter required.
