Morning all,

Thought I'd share with you my latest purchase.. A 2004 facelift Volvo S60R AWD in much sought after manual gearbox form too!

Specs.. 300bhp turbo 5 cylinder, Haldex AWD system, Four C active suspension, Full leathers, Full Volvo service history and only 73000 miles! A very good starting point, this is gonna be a keeper I think smile

Here's some pics

Not the best pics but you get the idea!

That's pretty much it though! Still very pleased with it despite only owning for 3 weeks but it is the most complete car I have ever owned! It's pretty quick, handles well, makes all the right noises and is of course Volvo safe! smile I also have no actual plans to do anything to the car either, it's well sorted out the box, although the exhaust is looking a bit flakey in places so may upgrade to something a bit more vocal if I have to!

Comments welcome! smile

Knew this would come up... Considering I did buy from a dealer, low mileage and full Volvo history I paid £6k.. Not bad in fairness as I was looking at buying another Focus ST, which are still quite expensive and not as well kitted out, comfortably or importantly as quick as the Volvo!

Very nice, i am trying to figure out if i can afford to change. I love volvos (my dads had 4 V70's/XC70's) and I'm currently trying to find the right deal on a latest shape V70 D5 manual.

That's seems perfectly reasonable, you wouldn't get a BMW or a Mercedes of similar age and mileage with the same spec for that money. I just wondered as it looked so clean for the age, the wheels, bodywork everything look immaculate. I only wish I had gone for a fast Petrol Volvo saloon instead of my Diesel Mondeo Rep mobile.

I don't get ST pricing. Face lift ones in orange seem to be on for silly money. Just looked and they seem to be 10k minimum, often 12-13! this is a 5 year old car which isn't that fast especially for the fuel it consumes. Great though the 5 cylinder engine is it's not particularly vocal in that car either. These things cannot have been much more expensive to buy new! I should have bought one back in 2012 when I could have had a good example st3 for just under 10k! I could probably resell it today and have not lost much at all!

That's okay smile yeah looking at other Rs for sale they sort of sit around from £5k anywhere up to £8k for a really late one! So I got a good deal really, especially with the history, mileage and condition it is really really good smile

It was a bit of an odd choice if I'm honest considering what else I could have had but I just really appreciate the smaller details on the car plus it's exclusivity and Q car status really do appeal to me smile

I shall get some up soon! Unfortunately it's not the David Dickinson off cut tan leather coloured interior! Mines got the Blue/Black leather which actually suits the black outside really well.

I will get pics up soon though smile

Been looking at these, definitely want one of these after my 9-5 Aero. According to http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=103... a stage 1 remap will take it to 330 bhp and 480 NM, and the intake can handle up to 450 bhp!

I have just sold my V70R, 2004.

It was an auto.

I loved it for the 3 years I had it but was always worried about a big bill.

Fortunately it never happened.

I would get another one if I could. the spec would be manual with 17" wheels.

They are great cars. There are many horror stories, I wonder how many have actually come from the horses mouth, or are rumour. I know a few people who have them and none has had any major issues with them.

I would get an oil change on the angle gear, it will only benefit, and you don't want it to break!

Many parts are available for sensible money. The engine is essentially shared with the focus, so many parts can be purchased from Ford for a fraction of the Volvo price. It takes some time to match part numbers. One example is the fuel pressure sensor,:- £170.00 from Volvo. £45 from Ford (the ford part is stamped volvo).

Brakes (only buy brembo) are available for very sensible money if you shop around.

The shock absorbers are unique, but are available at a fraction of the main dealer price.

The bits that scared me were little things:- callipers are £700 each, headlamps the same and the 18 inch wheels are prone to cracking. I did 2, lucky both could be repaired, as they too are £700 ish new. There was a supplier in europe that did a set of 4 genuine wheels for £600.

Best of luck!

Nice.

I had a 2.4 T5 (same engine but with thicker liners and smaller injectors) I went for the T5 as the R's appeared a bit fragile..

It sounded mint, was super comfy, went like hell (mapped ~310hp) but really wooly in the corners.. Ultimately couldn't get on with the way it looked so got rid.

Nice box to tick though.

A company called Oxford Fleet Management used to look after Volvo UK's own fleet of cars. PDI them, look after them for 6-12 months and then they'd be 'de-fleeted' and sold on to the dealer network. The cars all had OY and OV registrations. Of course it's entirely possible the car was just sold in the Oxford area when new!

If you have the service book, the PDI stamp will reveal all!

Lovely car OP, I'm a big fan of fast Volvos, and have always hankered after one of these or a similar vintage V70R... smile

Balls.

Of.

Steel.

That is all smile

To be fair, they're nowhere near as expensive to keep on the road as they used to be now that the 4C shocks are available direct from Monroe. Just make sure your 4WD system actually works as soon as you possibly can.
