Only if he's going X drive otherwise he has M sport suspension proper out of the box.
Diasagree. Still worth having, albeit not as marked improvement as on the 5 series (but a fraction of the price).
I have it on the F10 but original owner specced it. I do use it often but on the F10 it's a pricy optional extra (no idea if it's identical or superior system?)

You use it ALL the time. It is not about the variable damper control (switching between comfort and sport etc). It is the active part of the system - ie active roll bars, constantly sensing and adjusting damper settings for bumps etc. The full adaptive drive system on the 5 is close to £3k and completely different from the set up on the 3 which has no active roll bars etc.

It transforms the 5. I would not buy one without it (although they are few and far between). My only concern is maintenance - mine was starting to play up at 70k miles and is £££££ to fix.

Thanks I know the difference and I stated I use it often - that isn't ALL the time

Oh FFS. The car uses it all the time whether you understand how it works or not.

Can you clarify the difference between the F10 & F30 as the cost of this option is materially different/more.

Why did you omit it from the spec list in your profile?

I believe adaptive suspension in the F30 is equivalent to VDC in the F10; you don't get the active anti-roll in the F30.

Nothing omitted that list is a direct copy from the spec list I have. Dealership took me through how you set it up - you can turn the adaptive suspension on in comfort or off in Sport but not sport plus. It certainly tightens the ride up, generally I keep it on most of the time as that setup is more suited to my driving style but it's good to have the option.

Fascinating, since your car doesn't have adaptive or VDC according to the spec you've posted.

Really? How come the setup all changed through the drive and you can feel the difference?

Don't know; if that's the full spec then maybe it's a placebo effect from the massive change in throttle response and heavier steering?

Care to share the last 7 digits of your VIN because the spec list might not be complete - or type it into the VIN decoder on http://www.etk.cc and check the list there.

F30/31 is basically VDC. F10/11 is VDC plus active anti-roll bars (car corners flat) with anti- dive etc. Google BMW and Adaptive Drive and it explains all.
Do you have the full adaptive drive package - or just variable damper control ( the sport plus, sport, comfort switch)?

PS if you don't have the full adaptive drive set up you are probably not best placed to comment usefully on it. wink

Hi all,

Accepted offer today,
Took the quote into a second dealership and they matched it and ended up getting the pro nav for extra £10 a month so it's 343 monthly with the sport plus pack electric mirror heated fronts and pro nav

So orders closed in April for q2.... Really.

It's more orders received
Yes about 8 weeks order to delivery, to get the best of the quarterly discounting you need to hit delivery prior to the end of the quarter, there will be discounts all the time but to maximise you need the quarter end in your favour. All dealer bonuses/incentives are based on delivered cars.

How recently have you bought a new bmw?.... We've just taken delivery of 2 with large discounts on both.
