Ive finally ditched the original 14” Avon ZV3’s and gone for Dunlop Sport Bluresponse instead of the rapidly running out (supply) and hence IMO over inflated (snigger) Yoko oa21’s.
According to the manual the ZV3 should have 20psi front and rear, so ive started with 20psi on the Dunlops and initial impressions are very good even though they re not bedded in yet. I know anything would be better than the old ZV3’s but the car has been transformed in both ride pliancy and grip. The sidewalls do seem quite soft at 20psi which is no doubt making it a more comfortable ride.
So the questions I have to you helpful chaps is what 14” tyre pressures do you run (front to rear)and on what brand of tyre?
What advantages, if any are there in higher pressures?(I only use the car on the road by the way)
Cheers
DickieH
PS if masterslamma’s out there I d be keen to hear what you did when you ran the Dunlops.

18 psi all round, Uniroyal Rain Experts (as per that thread smile ) I've been amazed by the grip so far, but I can feel the car moving around more than on the Yokos which I think is more to do with softer side walls and smaller tread blocks than the actual grip. It feels more fun at roads speeds biggrin

Hi again downsman and thanks for the reply... Wow even less psi. That's interesting. Is there a risk of the tyre coming off the rims at low psi when on the limit, or is that nonsense?

As I understand it, the light weight of our cars allows us to get away with low pressures.
On my previous Yoko 21s I did track days at 18 psi and had no problems.

Also modern rims have a ridge to keep the tyres in place. My old Elan Sprint didn't have modern rims and I used to put the pressures up for track use, just in case.

Hope this helps smile

I find ZV3s fine on road and track at 17 PSI (Roadsport 150 SV). Not tried anything else yet though. The car was a bit skittish with them at 20 PSI.
