My other half has sole parental responsibility for her daughter, the Dad sees the child on a Sunday, bit of a feckless waster, pays a pittance and contributes nothing, even his time is hitty missy, the child is coming up 12, my missus is worried he could apply for P.R in a fit of spite, could he do this and would it be granted?

As a footnote I'm massiveley in favor of Dad's rights as I'm seperated but not when they are dicks

thanks
Andy

Then yes he can apply to the County Court for it. If he has contact with his child it is very likely to be granted.

Having said that, it's pretty much a worthless piece of paper.

AT that age - the child's view will be considered

(genuine question) why would you not want him to have parental responsibility?

I have no issues and I'm in the same boat as him with regards to seperation, he makes Frank Gallagher look like father of the year for one

Full PR will allow him to access medical information and school stuff, not that any of them actually check really.

He will also need to establish this if he wants to make an application for any child arrangement order.

Whole thing sounds like a storm in a teacup

As far as I can see a 12 year old should understand that her wishes are as important as both her parents, and that whilst they might both think they have her best interests at heart, only she knows what matters to her.

I guess that at some point, you need to find a person who can explain it all to the 12 year old without any bias, and who on a regular basis will just sit and listen, because often parents are too wrapped up in it all to see the whole picture from the child's point of view.

Does the father have a sister or aunt who is able to be none judgemental ?

As said PR doesn't mean anything in reality. If his daughter doesn't want to see him all he will then be entitled to is school reports, and medical information.

If the Mother decides to disregard his PR rights there is little the family court will be willing to do to help him enforce it, especially if he is estranged from his daughter.

If she keeps dis-regarding the PR & it's listed in an order the dad 'could' keep taking it back to court for breach of an order.
He would obviously need proof etc.
