Hey guys,

Our 2003 R53 has developed a central locking problem!

Symptoms:

- Consistent non-responsive lock on passenger door to electronic cues (remote key button, centre console lock switch, lock after pulling away)
- Twice occurred (so far) yellow triangle warning on tacho after trying to down-press console lock switch, disappears on up-switch or restart.
- Previously, remote key button wouldn't open driver's door either, this issue seems to have gone away.
- No sound of actuator from passenger door. Sounds of actuator from driver's, fuel cap and boot locks.
- Lock system fuse is ok.

Research suggests either knackered door lock actuator or body control module problems. Is there a definitive way to tell which it might be? Is the process for replacing a body control module complicated or particularly expensive?

Cheers,

Simon

I would have definitely said door actuator, but I don't know about the yellow triangle warning on the tach, are you sure you weren't hitting the ASC/DSC switch next to the locking switch instead?

The door actuator is a simple (if slightly fiddly) fit, it may be worth trying that to begin with if you feel like you can do this yourself.

Good point regarding the DSC switch! I'll check again tonight. I've done plenty of my own spannering in the past so I'd be happy to have a go. The BC module is electronics though - and that's voodoo as far as I'm concerned!

A new actuator looks to be in the ~£60 region and a well-documented repair, so I'm happy to give that a go myself. Thanks for the reply thumbup
